Tom & Suri Cruise on the Cover of OK Magazine
If you can get past the picture of Britney Spears and the story about her losing 15 pounds in 4 weeks (You go girl!), you can see the very cute picture of Tom & Suri Cruise. I can’t find out what “Suri’s Big Birthday Surprise” is all about, so it appears I am going to be forced to go buy the magazine, lol.

Julie, before you buy the mag try to look through it first because they will say anything to sell mags.

I think, Brit’s recovery is “magical”, it looked that she is almost at the bottom, but now she’s back - with the support of ther family, kicking off all on-hangers.
Maybe Katie can get inspired - get the help of her family (= parents) and kick off Tom and his whole Scientology.

Probably the magazine photo spread…or a party aboard FREEWINDS. Or maybe more Dad and Suri time while Mom moves to NYC.

Wondering why birthday #1 was not covered at all, like #2. Usually parents make a huge fuss over the First birthday more than the second. I remember reading about this in the media last year that fans did not understand why there was little if any mention of the first birthday plans. Some said that it was a shared party with Brooke’s daughter but no photos were ever released. I hope there is a huge party and I also still wonder what happened on her first!!

I had read that birthday party #1 was held in Feb. I think they said they did it then for many reasons but one reason was so the paps would not ruin it by trying to get pictures from helicopters and such.
They were smart to hold her 1st birthday in Feb.

Maybe, she was born in February (= with all the conspiracy theory about her real father), so they celebrated it at correct time.

Suri Cruise Celebrates Her First Birthday
Little Suri Cruise may not realize the effort involved, but her family made sure she celebrated her first birthday in style.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes organized a birthday lunch on April 18 at the Cruise compound in Los Angeles, where the entire clan dined on pizza and cupcakes from Sprinkles bakery in Beverly Hills.
“Suri is walking and talking,” says a source close to the family, who adds that dragonfly and butterfly piñatas were part of the entertainment.
The guest of honor – who, Holmes told PEOPLE recently, “loves just being outside right now,” received a gym set for the backyard, according to the source, along with a stack of books, balls and dolls.
“Tom and Suri kicked the ball around the lawn during the party,” adds the source.
Holmes’s mom Kathy, 60, flew to California for the occasion, as did a sister and nephew of Cruise, according to the source. On April 17, both grandmothers – Kathy Holmes and Mary Lee Mapother South, 70 – were treated to dinner at an Italian restaurant.
Just days earlier Holmes, 28, was in Shreveport, La., where she is filming Mad Money with Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton – and the day after the birthday bash, she and Cruise, 44, jetted to New York City for Cruise’s 9/11 Detox Fund-Raiser.
But Wednesday’s luncheon was a fun break from all the jet-setting – albeit a messy one. By the end of the party, says the source, “Tom, Katie and Suri were wearing chocolate.”

Well if she was born in Feb, Tom is still her father since Katie met him in April. Do the maths and you will find that that is 10 months. Unless of course she run to her ex in May to get preggers with Suri. Conspiracy theories are hair brained and boring.
Jenna, google Suri turns I and you will see that her brithday was covered well thank you. She is a little super star and she sells magazines that is why they use any excuse to get her on a cover.

Clare how can you even suggest that katie would hop into bed with tc the first night they met. She has too much class to such a low thing. She didn’t even know him long enough to do that and I would hope that tc would have more respect for her then that. PLUS he would be setting a poor example for his older children to sleep with a stranger.
Zoe

PuckH: …hate to tell you, she loved TC as a kid, he was an icon to anyone who adored him…hello… he is Maverick. I was a total prude and played hard to get with every guy I ever dated, including my husband.
I would have jumped into bed with him the first chance I got… LOL

Did I miss something? I don’t remember saying Katie jumped into bed with any one. Besides, it is her life, this is hollywood, people smooch with their brothers and wear vials of blood. Katie sleeping with her now husband on their first date (which is a supposition and not a fact since Tom said they went for Sushi and then a bike ride) is not such a crime.

Okay, this is my curiosity getting the better of me. How old are the people here that said they have the hots for Tom Cruise? If you tell me 40+, then I could say, yeah okay, but if you’re under 30, I have to say I don’t get it.

Yeah, OK magazine sucks!! They put out a fabricated story and then try to talk their way out of a bunch of lies. I thought he looked pretty darn sexy in Mission Impossible II with that roguish hair. Whew, he wore that black well in that movie!! I’d better stop.

Can honestly say that my kids first birthday was a big milestone for us. Not sure about the other years until they turned 13; don’t have to worry about the Sweet Sixteen and a new car at 16 yet, not that I would just hand it to them anyway. I had to work to every darn thing I got growing up; don’t want my kids to believe that their should have something “just because.” Always believed in a good work ethic.

With all the criticism of people who put articles from tabloids, quoting sketchy sources, I’m surprised no one has commented on Callie’s article. It doesn’t say anything, I could have ‘reported’ all those ‘facts’ to people. The photo is from Brooke Sheilds’ daughter’s birthday party. As for a one year old kicking a ball around… well, I don’t really believe that.

Oh, I forgot to add, I read this article and it has like 4 or 5 new pictures and there is nothing about big b-day surprise. The mag couldn’t make up what or where they’ll be celebrating the b-day….so much for the headline.

I am 32 and find Tom hot hot hot.
And Kate has become super-famous since being with tom. Before, only a few people (like Dawson Creek fans) knew of her and internationally she was almost unheard of.
Now the whole Universe knows who Kate Holmes is. And Tom is still very much loved in many countries like Japan, India, NZ and Australia.
Many Americans like to knock and criticise their own people. Such a shame.

First birthdays are the best! We threw a big party for all of my kids’ first birthdays. Now that they are older (10, 8 and 4) we have them choose if they want a big present or a big party. Most of the time they pick the big present and have one friend over. It sure makes life easier on us that way.

We did a big party for my daughter and this year we will do a big one for my son who will be 1! I am already thinking about it and it is months away :).
The most expensive thing at my daughters birthday party was the cake. I spent $100 on it - crazy, but everyone loved it.

I still think that Suri was born in either Dec or Jan, not April, as is declared. Remember, at her parent’s wedding, she was already walking in hard soled shoes, and at that time, she was supposed to be only 7 months old, and squirming out of her mother’s arms to get down and walk. No, the child is much older than is portrayed.

A little semantics here - aren’t Greeks Christians, too? You mean, American Christians, don’t you? Everybody comes over to the states and brings their customs and religions with them. WHen they have been here for a few generations, then they start to co-mingle with the general population and customs. I’m third generation German, Polish and Russian. Can you imagine what it would be like celebrating the religious customs of all three countries? This is my country. I’ve been born here and all of my ancesteral generations have been naval officers and fought in all the wars for this country.

Julie,
You should learn what that acronym that Callie used means because it’s it’s vulgar and extremely rude. Not only should that post be removed, but Callie should either receive a stern warning, or be booted from this site altogether. It irks me that some people here complain about next to nothing, but no one bothered to mention this because Callie just happens to be an ardent fan.

I not sure if I understand your questions Carla.
Yes, Greeks are Christians too. No I don’t mean American Christians, I mean Greek Orthodox/Christians and I don’t live in the US.

OH, I learned something new today. I did not realize they were different times. For some reason, I thought Easter was always the same as the Jewish passover–after the first full moon of the Spring Equinox.

No one special - the Orthodox churches do celebrate easter on the first full moon after the Spring Equinox BUT…! they use a different calendar to determine the dates. The Orthodox churches still determine easter according to the old Julian Calendar (i.e. the old calendar that didn’t include the leap years. It fell out of general use in the 16th century, I think). However, all these countries (e.g. Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, etcetc etc) use a normal calendar for everyday life. Last year, it was a total coincidence that the ‘western’ and Orthodox easters were on the same date. This doesn’t happen all that often.
Also, many of these churches - Ukrainian and Russian Orthodox at least, celebrate Christmas on 7 January for a similar reason. Strangely, the Romanian Orthodox Church celebrates the Catholic/Protestant Christmas date on 25/12, even though they use the old calendar for Easter.
Where I live people are mostly Russian Orthodox, and their easter fasting menu (which most restaurants cater for) is essentially Vegan - no meat, dairy, eggs etc. So it truly is a sacrifice if you ask me, especially when the weather is still quite bleak (no comfort food!)
Interestingly, Ethiopia still uses the Julian Calendar for 100% everyday life, so I believe that they finally celebrated the new Millennium this year!

Hana - I live in Eastern Europe. With all the holidays centered around the Orthodox faith rather than Catholic/Protestant, I’ve taught myself a lot! (It’s really weird not getting Christmas as a holiday). I do think, though, that lent must be a lot easier to survive if you live in a country where the national faith is Orthodox. If not, it would be a bit like doing ramadan if you didn’t live in a muslim country - virtually impossible. I couldn’t imagine a Russian Orthodox person surviving lent in the States. Here, a lot of people fast and all the restaurants have delectable menus with good food on offer. It must really help.
