Tom, Katie and Suri Hit the Beach in Brazil

Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise are in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Tom’s “Valkyrie” premiere. On January 31st, the family hit up the beach and the pictures are GREAT!
The family left their hotel guarded by heavy security and entered a Brazilian military base. They were able to enjoy the beach in a residential area of the base. They played in the sand for awhile and then were mobbed by military staff and families.
I can’t imagine showing up to chill at the beach on a normal day, look up and there is Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes and their adorable daughter Suri. What a treat and shocker for military families!

I wish I could go to the beach! I bet they had fun getting out of the city and enjoying the beach. I do feel sorry for them because people want leave them alone and let them enjoy the beach. You know there was a hundred photographers and people trying to take a look at them.

Beautiful looking beach! TC looks REALLY great in his white shirt and demin shorts. Suri looks cute as well. I wish I was at warm beach!! GO STEELERS!!! CITY of CHAMPIONS!!!
Does anyone that has ever followed Tom honestly believe he wants privacy? Honestly?
On the other hand, Katie appears to have had enough. There are dozens of pictures out there and she looks miserable in most of them.
I don’t know tyler about Tom wanting privacy. It would be impossible to speak for him. His actions certainly show that he isn’t bothered by all the attention he gets every where he goes but that does not mean he loves it. Maybe it just means he tolerates it as part of his job. I do think, and said in a different post, that I feel like they could do more to shield Suri from this attention that she so obviously does not want. And I dont mean by leaving her at home with the Nanny.
Then what do you suggest they do Lillianne.
In NYC they tried back entrances, service entrances etc.
They tried asking for space and were surrounded. Their apt here was under pap watch 24/7
In interviews TC has said he doesn’t know what to do.
Being rude will not make it easier for them.
When Katie returned to LA after AMS photos of the family are hard to find.

TC also said that most people are very respectful and nice to them.
I think they’re caught in the middle here.
Mary, I think Katie’s had enough. She seemed to enjoy it for a while, but not anymore.
He could have taken his family on vacation somewhere else. They could have gotten out of town without notice, but instead he brings them to the very place where everyone knows he’ll be? What?
He can have privacy, but only by working for it. When’s the last time you saw Stephen Spielberg, Tom Hanks, Dustin Hoffman, Clint Eastwood, etc. etc. on vacation? Now and then, maybe, but not very often. These are people to whom privacy is sacred and I’d bet my bottom dollar they do whatever necessary to ensure it.
Taking your family on a press junket is not one of those ways.
Caught in the middle? As in wanting to have your cake and eat it too?
Suri is very aware that there is a boatload of paps out there on the water, and feels their presence,because she keeps looking at them, although doesn’t seem to be threatened by them, she comes across as a good little girl, who is very close to her mum and dad, in NYshe went everywhere with her mother, I hope Katie doesn’t do another play this year in NY, as has been rumoured ,the years go by quickly, maybe its time for Suri to have a little brother or sister now,before there is too bigger difference in age .
I agree Tyler…..that was NOT a vacation as I believed it to be….this was a another stop on his press junket to advertise Valkyrie. Doesn’t Katie want to stay in her NEW mansion that they just decorated and threw a huge Hollywood party for????? Wonder why she does not want to be back in LA enjoying her new home that they both were so excited for. Brazil is great…… I traveled there myself a few years back but they have a mansion that she has not slept in in months. It just sits there.
TC has done all his promotion of Valkyrie alone. Katie joined him only in London and Berlin only. The kids stayed home.
Brazil is his last stop and a fantastic vacation destination.
Why not incorporate a much needed vacation into the schedule.
Wouldn’t this have been an interesting place to take his other “home schooled” children?

Reports I’ve read from Brazil says they are there.
Nothing wrong with work and play, except in his case it doesn’t allow for privacy. Like I said, I don’t think he wants privacy and I’m pretty sure he calls the shots.
I don’t know how true this is , but I read that 20 members of his family came, maybe Connor and Bella don’t like being in the publie eye with the paps snapping away at them, maybe not so much with Connor, but maybe thats the way Bella feels, I think teenage girls get more self conscious about these things, and also maybe by not being seen too much in the public eye they can get on with doing their own thing, without being recognised. Tom said that they don’t even want him talking about them, I think they are very loved, and probably wear different get ups, so they wouldn’t be recognised anyway. On the Collatterall DVD, the director M Mann was curious to see, if Tom got dressed up whether people would recognise him so Tom got into a Fedex uniform , longer hair , beard and cap and went out and talked to people on the street and a cafe, nobody recognised him at all, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do that sought of thing all the time, all of them, Tom said they even go to the movies that way.
It was known that TC would be going to Brazil to promote Valkyrie.
It was not known that his wife and kids would be joining him there.
The Cruises landed in Brazil and the first pics seen of them there was exiting the hotel……..Now that is privacy at work right there.
Tyler , I don’t think Katie looks miserable in the pics , what do you want her to do , how do you want her to act, there are lots of people watching them from nearby and a boatful of paps, in a way I’m glad she doesn’t perform, there are people who can’t do things like that, its unatural, and that whole beach thing might only have been for 10mins for all we know. Does Suri wear a diaper or are they training pants, because there is a difference, there has been a few pics where Suri looks like she wants to pee, all in front of the paps, maybe its more of a precaution and everyone says diaper. Kingston R still has a pacifier, all I can say to that is, thank God its not Suri or they would’t have heard the end of it.
It’s hard to say that a child doesn’t interact from a few pics, because little kids are all different, my cousins little girl, who is 3yrs 3months, she is the most intelligent well behaved little girl, when she talks, its like a grown up talking ,she spends her time with books, pencils puzzles, she knows every song there is, she’s beautifully dressed and is not overly talkative or smiley but what comes out of her mouth are gems, she loves strawberries and blueberries and will go into great detail about them, and then won’t talk to you for the rest of the day. Her brother is just the opposite, its wrong to judge a little girl through some pics , thank God there are a few videos of Suri around that show her talkative animated and lively.
Correction: They were seen entering the hotel but not landing in Brazil.
Copacabana Palace! I stayed there! It’s a really nice, super posh hotel. The beaches have to be the best beaches in the world!
Annie, I believe Julie said it best, it gets annoying to have no privacy after a while. In the beginning she seemed to revel in it, but not now. She looks like she smiles out of duty and even then barely manages to eke a smile. That’s why so many of the comments say she smirks, which I don’t believe is the case, but I do believe she’s tired of being on display. There are a couple of videos out there that show how the minute she and Tom exit a building, she reaches for his hand – kind of like a young child. It’s almost like she’s reaching out for help. In one of the videos, he just holds on to her fingers as he continues to wave to the crowd. Body language is very telling.
