Tom Cruise to Return to Oprah?

by Julie on April 24th, 2008

tom-cruise-pictures-02_sp.jpg

MSNBC is saying that Tom Cruise may return to the Oprah Winfrey Show! We all know what big news that is given his last appearance on her show in June  of 2005. He was there to promote his new movie “War of the Worlds”, and that’s when the whole couch jumping incident happened.

The focus of the show is unclear right now, but it is slated for May sweeps. MSNBC also noted that this summer is the 25 year anniversary of “Risky Business”.

A rep for Warner Home Video does confirm that there are “special plans” for the anniversary, and details are being finalized. Other celebrities have been contacted about being involved in the show according to sources close to them, so expect it to be an A-list hour of television. Cruise’s publicist wasn’t available for comment and “The Oprah Winfrey Show” didn’t respond by deadline.

So, how many of you will watch Oprah that day? I know I will and I can’t wait to see what the show is all about! And, do you think Oprah or Tom will mention anything about his last appearance? It should be an interesting show with HUGE ratings!

Big thanks to Concerned Mom for the tip!

Are you serious! I am so excited! Please god let this be true! I want to see Tom Cruise on Oprah again. Cause I want to hear what he has to say. Please man, don’t let this be another fake rumor. I can’t wait. I’m so glad that I’m out of school by the time Oprah start’s and If I end up working that day, there is always 1am that they re air the Oprah shows later after midnight! Please, if anybody knows if this is true, let me know. Also, I want people to remind me what day it is going to be! I can’t wait! I am definitely gonna watch that episode. I have not been watching Oprah in a while. But definitely will let go of video games and internet, for one hour of Oprah when Tom comes on. I’ll even make that 2 hours. Cause I will tune in for the 1 am re airing at dusk. OMG I can’t wait! I gotta see if this is true. I wonder what it’s going to be about! I hope they have Suri on the show too!

I hope this is true. Oprah really needs a ratings boost. Now, more people are watching Ellen and less Oprah. So, I think she wants to get whatever she can to do ratings. I haven’t been watching Oprah in a while, but this would be exciting to watch! Really excited to see this be true. I bet that even the commercial showing the upcoming episode would make buzz. They’d probably post it on Youtube, to let everyone now what exact date he is gonna be on the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if somebody is waiting right in front of the TV, with a camcorder, to be the first to record the upcoming show date and clip! Can’t wait!

funny amy. Well, May is sweeps month so this would be a good thing for him and her. If he can sort of laugh with everyone about the couch jumping incident, it will go a long way to reconnecting with many of his fans. He knows how to turn on the charm-without a doubt.

I am sure he will go on and mock himself to try and make light of that plight, and just be cute and adorable as usual.
That picture of Tommy up there in this post, looking HOT, when was that taken? I miss that shorter hair…

Tom Cruise is the best. I look forward to this show. I hope I don’t have to work that day. I really want to hear what he has to say. He is a great person, and I think that it is time that he lets people know who he is , so the tabloids don’t take advantage of concocting lies to influence the way people think of celebrities. What a sweet treat! I’m anticipating watching Iron Man next week, so I already wish I could make time go by faster, and now I have this news of Tom on Oprah, now I really want time to go by faster, and most likely, by the time the commecials come out, I’m just gonna want to build me a time machine. Lol. But I should just cherish the time in between. Keep us updated Julie!

I would love to see Tom go back on Oprah. I also would love to see her interview him in depth as to the basis behind his following the Church of Scientology. The You Tube leaked video was so damaging. He said NOTHING at all. Just words. Words put together that made no logical sense whatsoever. It would be great to see him tell the world of his beliefs in this “religion.” If it’s so great, let the rest of us know so we can sign up! Or are there only a “chosen few”? I hope Oprah asks the tough questions.

Tuna, better tape it or DVR it (How I love my dvr thing!) Then you can have it forever or as I have experienced until your dvr freezes up and you have to get a new one which also means you lose anything you had saved. LOL

I was thinking the same thing Kelly. I was going to post “five bucks says he will pretend to start to jump”.
I wonder how much O is getting for this! ;)

Very interesting. Oprah could use a boost.I still wonder whether it is true. It sounds plausible but Tom did not invite Oprah to his wedding because of her comments on the Diane Sawyer show pretending to be a Tomkat expert.

I am really looking forward to this.

If it is true, it will be a ratings hit regardless… People will want to see how TC acts. I don’t understand why Oprah is such a big star, the only time i see her shows, she’s a terrible interviewer and she’s gotten (metaphorically) too big for her humble talk show seat. Then again, I also wonder why many hollywood peeps are such big stars… Makes one start to believe whatever that saying is about getting to the top.

I have always liked to watch Oprah. I think most of her topics are really thought provoking and timely. I doubt I will watch though because I don’t usually get to see her show these days because of work. I do think it is interesting that Tom is going to back on her show now. I wonder how things will go?

The show is to mark the 25th anniversary of his 1983 film Risky Business and friends and colleagues will surprise him with taped messages honouring his work in movies, according to a statement from Harpo Productions.

I think it will be a huge rating success. I also think they will both mention his last appearance.

Sounds like a version of “this is your life.” Wonder if his exes will be a part of it LOL.
I couldn’t take much Tom Cruise so I’ll just read what you all have to say about it.

I just have nothing but love for Tommy boy. He is a good person, I can just tell. He isn’t like Ray Liotta or Jamie Lynn, who don’t look like very nice people, they have that streak of snobby or like they have a wall up. I doubt he will be talking about his religion. Its because you have all these people saying that he was preaching his religion, and I don’t really think he was. But there are haters who will pick on every single thing he does. Like, I’m pretty Sure that is they had shown Suri after earlier, they would still have gotten bashed. People would have criticized them of showing off their kid too early, and some loser DJ posted on his site that it was disgusting that they were pimpin their kid on the cover of a magazine, and it got airtime on inside edition’ They gave the photos for free. Their is no way to win, because there are haters who want him to breakdown. And everybody is so brainwashed to believe that what the media says is cool, is cool, and what they think is not is not. They shape everybody’s perception of things.

Tuna, again with the H word. Such a strong word. I am not a fan of tc or for that matter most of the Hollywood folk as I think for the most part they are pretty self-absorbed. I think it is funny that the ones defending tommyboy most vehemently and calling any even potentially negative remarks that h word are the ones who state all kinds of negativity toward other stars. Ex: Ray Liotta looks mean to you? Well he has played (acted) as all sorts of crazy, rather quirky characters in MOVIES. In real life I have read he is quite sweet. If someone -like TC-is going to make all kinds of public displays and spectacles of themselves, they just open themselves up to being fodder for late night talk show hosts like David Letterman did on the 24th and for ridicule. If he hadn’t jumped on the couch and preached at Matt Lauer and dipped Katie in a over the top dramatic kiss on the red carpet at the premiere of WoW, and the list goes on and on and on, he wouldn’t have caused such a frenzy of discussion and criticism on the internet or otherwise. With all of his antics, it seems like he has become almost a comic book type character.

And it is in People now so it must be true about being on Oprah. Looks like a TWO parter with the first part live in the studio and the second at his home in Telluride CO where the article says he will give a tour to Oprah and sit down for a more intimate interview. Should be quite interesting.

Sweet. Non stop expectations! Next week is Iron Man, and Tom Cruise, and the following Monday, another dose of Cruise on Oprah! I can’t wait to watch! i just hope they do a really good job and make the show very entertaining. I would like them to have an awesome band on there too. Maybe we can find out what Tom Cruise’s favorite band is .There is so much things that I want to know about him. I just hope he says those things! I hope the man gives me more reasons to love him aside from the ones I already have! Because he is tight!

At some point though you stop with the ridicule which has gone way past just TC, it has included his entire family and even to those who are standing up for him.
TC has not said a word about Scientology since May 2005…………..He promoted LFL, no controversy there, he has not granted any interviews and spoke to the media only at the premiere of LFL.
He had no comment even when questioned about the lunch with Redstone.
Brooke Shields accepted his apology, he married Katie…………..yet the smear campaign continues, consistently so since 2005. Everyone deserves a break………Tom and Katie are overdue.

I was there in NY for that dip on the red carpet of WOTW…………….The crowd and the paps were
screaming for him to dip and kiss Katie.
