Premiere Of Dreamworks Pictures' "Tropic Thunder" - Arrivals

Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise will produce and possibly star in "The Monster of Florence", a serial killer thriller.

The movie is about eight double homicides which are believed to have been committed single handedly between 1968 and 1985 in and around Florence. The movie is based on a true story and has already been made once in the 80s.

Yikes! Sounds very dark, but definitely intriguing.

Chris McQuarrie, who wrote the screenplay for Valkyrie, is in charge of the script. Word has it that Tom is waiting to read the finished script before he decides if he’ll star in it.

    Very dark indeed!

Anyone know anything about Douglas Preston’s book? I haven’t read it and would be curious to hear your thoughts on it.

I’m also glad to see that UA is buying properties for Tom to star in (possibly). I think it’s probably a condition of his staying with them, especially now that he’s split with Paula. It’s not as if he has C/W to go back to. I was hoping he would form another production company on his own, but this is just as good.

  2. Lauren says:

I hope this is true. It sounds like a really juicy project. So many rumours of Tom Cruise projects. I am glad. I hope he does more than a movie a year.

  3. annie says:

I agree Lauren, so many rumours about future projects, but I thought TC said in the interview with Liz Smith he was was going to make Tourist.

  4. dido says:

ı think first he will do the tourist and then the sleeper and this one will come after those in my opinion. I can’ t wait his new projects, he is a wonderful actor and ı allways love his films except eyes wide shut

  5. Lauren says:

Annie, I didn’t know he had confirmed that. He is going to be one busy papa. I will keep my fingers crossed that even this is true. I love a TC movie.

  6. annie says:

Lauren, TC said to Liz Smith that he’s got a good love story in the international thriller ”Tourist” and ‘ believes” he’s going to make it .

  7. PuckHappy says:

Something must be up. His peeps have sure been busy putting his name out there with projects that never materialize.

Come on tommy, show us some talent!! hahaha
