Tom Cruise Relaxes Katie & Suri Down Under

On Saturday morning (August 15) by the lake near Government House in the Botanical Gardens at Melbourne, Tom Cruise spent some time relaxing with his girls Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise.
Katie and Suri are spending their last day with Tom before he hops back on a plane and heads home. Tom has spent some time on the “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” set with Katie, as well as at a park there in Melbourne.
The family laid around on the grass just soaking in their time with each other. It sure made for some cute pictures!
In other Katie news, it has been announced that her fashion line, Holmes & Yang, will be sold exclusively at Maxfield in Los Angeles this fall. The line includes women’s and children’s fashions.

I know some of you are not gonna like this comment but I really think the
above pictures of Tom, Katie, and Suri were taken VERY EARLY in the morning
in the park (Suri looks so SLEEPY even when they are arriving to the park)
just to make the newspapers deadline to appear in the media.
These pictures appeared in today’s Daily Mail and that article says that Tom
Cruise is leaving Australia tomorrow. This means there had to be one more
“photo opportunity” with the three of them before he leaves. Who goes to the
park that early? You can tell by the pictures that Suri is sleepy. Why not
stay in your luxurious hotel and enjoy each other PRIVATELY.
I know Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are celebrities but its this type of behavior that makes people critize them and look like they are exploiting
Suri. Suri looks MISERABLE & SLEEPY in these pictures. Sometimes I wonder
“What were they thinking?”
Even in the pictures below, everyone is wearing a sweater or coat but Suri is
sleeveless wearing a silky type dress.
And let me say that I don’t critize Tom Cruise for leaving Australia.
Time is passing and he needs to get the ball rolling and LOCK DOWN his
next picture. If the rumors are true, Mission Impossible 4 is not
scheduled to be released until 2011, that’s 2 YEARS AWAY. So Tom better
get moving. I get see how staying in Australia while Katie films can be
boring for him even though Suri is there but how long can a man hang out
with a 3 year old? Very few daddys are willing to babysit 24/7 while the
wife works and their career is at a standstill.
No matter HOW SMALL THE WORLD HAS become because of technology (laptops, cell
phones, webcams, etc), Tom Cruise’s world is probably centralized in Los
Angeles and that’s where he wants to be while he gets his career moving again.
Katie on the other hand looks like she will do anything to stay away from
Los Angeles. They moved into their Beverly Hills mansion last June and Katie
has lived more time in New York or other places than in her new home. How
strange.
You know what I find interesting? Katie and Suri are having what looks like a natural interaction. Suri is sleepy and on her Mom’s shoulder. Both are just doing their thing and ignoring the photographers. On the other hand, Tom is playing up to them. He has to look at them and smile, then he waves. It’s all about the press for Tom and that disturbs me. Just be with your wife and daughter Tom! Forget about getting good press for once!
As to whether or not these pics are staged, who knows? Could be. Tom’s people are famous for calling the paps to let them know where he is (a fact that is openly discussed and has been in the press from various agencies). I wonder if Katie likes that?

I think it’s cute that they have family time together. That’s what they need and since Katie’s busy with her movie and Tom’s busy with his movies, they deserve some downtime. I don’t think it matters where they go or what they do, they’re a family.

Could be kate. We really don’t know. We all see different things but the truth is unless we lived with Tom and Katie, we really have no idea what they’re thinking or why they do things. It’s all just opinion, isn’t it?
We only see a couple of pics, so who knows what really hapened??? only them. A clothing line?? I’m not sure.
I love Katie and Suri but I have to write that I still do not find her to be a good stylist. In fact, I have disliked every piece of her line that I have seen. In addition, I find her personal day to day style to be horrid. Again, I think she is stunningly beautiful but I really find her daily combinations to be dreadful. She always seems to highlight her most challenging features (e.g. her thighs and ankles) by wearing skinny jeans or leggings and that brown jacket above mixed with that blue scarf and legging is just plain awful. I, for one ,will not be purchasing any of her line. TC looks strange with those starch white Nike’s on….that looks little odd to me. Are they lifts to make him taller? I feel bad that he is leaving again. He is spending less time with her this go around than he did while she was in NYC, and I feel for her. I would HATE to be away from my husband for such long extended periods of time, and I bet Katie will feel sad when he is gone again. Ahhh…I hope that he can return soon. I liked how he was visiting her alot in NYC, now, it just seems that he is not making her a priority enough.
PS. Glad to see that TC was there to help Katie as she fell with Suri!!!
Charlotte Rose: I agree with you that Katie and Suri are having a natural
moment. These are actually some of the more natural pictures of Katie and
Suri that I have seen in a long time. And we have seen them in parks in
Germany, New York, and they have always looked like photo opportunities.
In these pictures its Tom Cruise that looks like he is playing up to the
cameras. Katie looks exhausted, like if she just woke up and was told to get
dressed and lets go to the park. Suri looks like she was dragged out of bed
and taken to the park. In the past, when we have seen Suri at the park she
is running here and there, not in these pictures. She is VERY SLEEPY and
can’t seem to shake off her sleeppiness. I still say these pictures were taken very early in the morning.
And there she goes again she drops the kid when she is walking. If she can’t walk and hold the kid maybe she should let her ( Suri ) walk.
It looks to me the paps are too close, and Suri is not liking it, so she is happy to stay cuddled up with her mother, so she doesn’t have to the see them. All the other pics that have been taken of Katie and Suri, running around were from that estate that she is filming from, and its got a fence around it, so even though the paps were there they were at quite a distance, using long lenses, not in their faces like they have been these last few days,because the filming has taken place in the city. Sometimes I do feel that Katie is a bit agitated and uncomfortable or even paranoid about the paps, and this rubs off on Suri, because when Tom is holding her, she is not so scared of them as she seems when Suri is when with her mother. Tom might be waving at passers by, he might not be waving at the paps, but remember he always tries to get on with them and always has done. Ithink that Katie should try to get over what she feels about the paps or maybe try talking Suri out of it when they are around, bcause they are going to be in their lives forever, Suri is an adorable little girl, I don’t enjoy seeing her look scared of the paps.

I don’t think she was dropping Suri, Pat. I think she was trying to get up from the grass while holding a sleeping Suri. Suri’s a big girl now. Lifting a child that large while trying not to disturb their sleep is tough. I think Tom was helping her up actually.
I am a Nicole Kidman fan and i was not a fan of Tom and Katie however have to say i think that they r ok. Katie seems humble. So really i dont think that things r staged . They seem to be comfortable and maybe they have had more freedom to do things that they have not done before. Aussies dont hover over them.What you see is a casual freedom to be and do what they want to do. Just let them be.

I’m not sure about the clothing line either, as much as I like Katie, I’m not sure if she has what it takes to pull it off. She is not a designer, she is an actress, an actress that sometimes doesn’t make the most of herself, Ithink if you want to sell your deigns, you have to know what suits you, you have to know yourself very well, she will have to wear her own designs a lot of the time, and Katie will have to be up to scratch. People will have to look at the whole package and say WOW , that looks good, from her head to her toe, on her , or they won’t take to them, and she will wind up getting criticised. Its up to Katie to sell her designs, like the others , like VB,. what worries me about Katie is , I really don’t think she knows what her best look is, but she might surprise, this is a big thing , Ithink!
I agree with you annie. I don’t see the clothing line being a hit either. First of all, it’s only being sold at one very high end store in LA. Secondly, Glamour Magazine has a poll on their site asking if anyone would wear her designs and the answer is overwhelmingly negative. Something like 3 quarters saying no. I found that interesting only because it comes from a fashion site, not a celebrity site. Personally, I have only seen one design on Katie that I might wear (the blue dress she wore to the TT premiere) and it was a very common looking design. Something that could be purchased anywhere. I wish Katie would go back to wearing the really good high end designers like Armani (very classy) and stick to what she’s good at….being an actress.

It’s very evident that these parents love their children. I have NEVER seen a celebrity mom as attentive to their children as Katie is to Suri. I also think all the soccer games and charitable visits Katie and Conner made were NOT for the papers! People have to market their talent, but I disagree with any negativity about this family. They are a family that believes in God, family, health & fitness, and careers. Why do people try to read something other than people making it in this world. Tom, Katie and your whole family–many blessings to you, live your goodwill and enjoy your lives!
WOW Traci! You seem to know an awful lot of things about the Cruise’s! Do you know them personally? You would have to in order to say what they believe in. Otherwise, how could you know.
I have to correct one thing. The God assumption. You’d be wrong on that. Their belief system – when you get into the higher levels – clearly says there is no God and states that it is against their beliefs to believe in Him. When they get above a certain level, they are atheists. If you don’t believe me, google it. It seems you can mix it with other religions in the beginning but once you reach a certain level, they tell you the “truth” about God which is that he does not exist.
This isn’t negativity, by the way. It’s just the way their belief system works. To each their own, I guess.
I really don’t know what to make of Tom’s behaviour – the way he interacts with the paparazzi and how Suri is always dressed up when he’s around. It’s always nice to see Katie with her though. That’s definitely natural.
One thing that comes to my mind when seeing those pictures and reading your comments about whether it’s a photo opportunity or not: Brad and Angelina (who I guess are even more popular than T&K) can go for weeks without being ‘caught’ by photographers so it really seems as if Tom is not even trying to hide Suri from the cameras.
Plunder, Suri is not always dressed up when Tom is around. In the park photos, it looks like she’s wearing a t-shirt and sweat-pants. In the bottom photos, she’s wearing leggings. LOL, did you even look at the photos before commenting?

I do not personally know the Cruise family. I have not found the same interpretation of Scientology that you have. I am not a Scientologist, but rather than portray that I know everything about them, I will say that only God knows what is in a persons heart and I would never downplay or negate another persons belief system or church. It must take a lot of courage for them to have stated their belief system and attend church services and seek spiritual growth. That has been portrayed, but it is never seen as a positive. Katie has stated in interviews that Tom does a lot to help charities that is never witnessed in the media. No, I don’t proclaim to know the man or where he is on his journey, I just wonder why other’s would even tear it down? Again, God knows a persons heart, no human being can judge another person in that way.
I reckon that the Brangelina kids don’t go out much otherwise the paps would find them. I’m sure they lie in wait for them, hoping to get pics. Katie seems so normal, the way she meets up for coffee ,her dacing, thats probably her form of excercise as opposed to going to the gym . The way Suri is on set with her. I like how she stops and has coffee in a coffee shop with Suri, you see so many mums around doing that, but now things are a bit more sophisticated , little kids have babychinos, When I used to do it with my boys, they used to have milkshakes and donuts. I’m not bagging Brangelina , because I don’t care one way or the other about them, but they are so over rated , and a clear example how the media can make or break you.

I agree that only God knows a persons heart. That’s my belief as well. That wasn’t the point of my post at all. My point was that you stated the above and all kinds of other things that you can’t possibly know. You stated that they believe in God when the evidence indicates that its probably not the case. That was it. I think we need to put Tomkat into perspective. What we see is what they want us to see. No one, unless you know them very, very well, can know what kind of people they really are. I don’t personally know if Tom and/or Katie believes in God. But from everything that I have read about Scientology it is not a God-based religion. I think that Charlotte Rose makes a good point in that everyone can speculate all they want about what kind of people these are…from what they believe in to what they like or don’t to what their intentions are….and the bottom line is that noone knows for sure. So when a person states things here as if they KNOW about this couple it makes us wonder how they possibly could?
Currently in Melbourne, sunrise is after 7AM. If they arrived at the park after then sun was up, it wasn’t that early at all.
Also, don’t forget that there are different timeszones around the world. The US / UK are 10+ hours BEHIND Australia. So it woudn’t not be that hard for these pictures to make it into the “same” day edition of non-Australian mags!!
You know I’m glad you wrote all this Charlotte, because what is the point? What is the point of all this…..? I have my own God and my own family to focus on, this counterpointing each others comments is a waste of time..I’m outta here!!!!!
I dunno what your point was Tracy, but mine was clear. From what I can see, you made statements you can’t backup because you don’t know the Cruise’s or what they truly believe. I disagreed with your statements and restated my opinion. Apparently that freaks you out. It’s not “counterpointing” dear. It’s discussion. If you don’t want to hear the opinions of others, then clearly a board where discussion is allowed is not for you.

If Traci’s “feathers were ruffled” by my comments, I apologize, but I was simply pointing out that NONE OF KNOW THE CRUISES PERSONALLY NOR CAN WE SAY EXACTLY WHAT THEY BELIEVE. She made statements that presented who they are personally as fact when it was simply conjecture. That’s all. I’m sorry she was offended that I disagreed with her but isn’t that the nature of a site like this? Conversation, right? No matter where you go in this world, not everyone is going to agree with you!! That’s life!
I’m also not sure how I could leave religion out of this discussion when Traci was the one who brought it up. I just responded to that.
I don’t see any reason for Traci to leave either. It’s silly. She has her opinion and we have our opinions, whatever they are. She shouldn’t be so sensitive because someone called her on stating opinion as fact.
By the same token, IF someone had stated that Tom and Katie definitely do not believe in….whatever…..I would have disagreed with that as well. My point has always been that none of us is inside Tom and Katie’s head and none of us can know what they truly believe within their heart of hearts.
As I can recall, when Oprah asked Tom if he believes in God, his answer was: “Yes!”
Charlotte, you can believe to any anti-scientology web it is your right, but I don’t see any reason not to believe Tom.
Yes Masha. He did say that. I don’t know if Tom told the truth or not. His religion teaches something called “acceptable truth” which allows them to lie when it’s in their best interest and the best interest of their religion.
Tom once denied that his religion believes in aliens when, in fact, one of the primary beliefs is in an alien race. Hey….that’s fine. Whatever floats your boat, but Tom denied it simply because outsiders aren’t supposed to know that doctrine so he lied. Later, with the advent of so much information being available on the internet from individuals who have left, that belief was made public. Lets face it, people are capable of lying when they’re religion tells them to. They see it as serving the greater good which is certainly their right.
I’ll say it one more time: No one knows what Tom really believes other than Tom. Frankly, I don’t care. It doesn’t change the fact that I enjoy him as an actor. The rest is not my problem.
I think we need to get off the topic of religion. Its a touchy subject. There’s a ton of info out there on Tom’s religion and if anyone is curious they can look into it outside the site. I think that’s probably the smartest thing we could do to keep this place peaceful and happy.
My sisters partner and his family are athiests, you know why? because his parents are both science teachers so they see everything from a scientific view. He and his parents are the loveliest people imaginable. Saying that, my sisters daughter was christened in the Greek orthadox church and I’m her godmother because you have to be orthadox to marry and christen in an orthadox church, but standing next to me at the chistening was also my sisters best friend , who is Australian, so she was not allowed to participate in the christening ceromony, that is holding the baby while the priest reads , anoints her head, and put her into the water.
My sister law , wife of my husbands brother, changed her religion from Catholic to orthadox, in order to marry him , she didn’t mind at all, and both children are orthadox, but really Catholic is not much different to orthadox anyway . I don’t paticularly care about others religion or faith, its not like Ihave ever sat around with any friend discussing their beliefs, no matter how many years we have been friends for, they have theirs , I have mine, we go to their weddings, christenings,etc, we enjoy their different way of doing things and they enjoy ours , and life goes on, although the alien bit sounds a bit funny to me , like in ha ha ha type funny, there must be more , some of those Scie stars don’t look silly to me.
