Tom Cruise in ‘Tropic Thunder’
Have you seen the previews or heard of the movie “Tropic Thunder“? I hadn’t until this morning and guess who has a cameo in it? Tom Cruise! He doesn’t show up in the preview trailers. It’s directed by Ben Stiller and stars Stiller, Jack Black, and Robert Downey Jr. as a group of actors filming a Vietnam War movie when their fed-up director and writer decide to dump them in the middle of a real war. It is due for release on August 15, 2008.This movie looks pretty darn funny. Here’s the trailer:
Now, about Tom’s role. Here’s what one person who has seen the movie is saying about Tom’s cameo:
“Now for the best actor in the film. The man who steals the film. Tom Cruise! Yes Tom Cruise was brilliant in this, I won’t go into detail because it will be an awesome surprise but Tom Cruise played a role I never in a million years thought he would ever play, and I truly think after this film comes out he will redeem himself to the public and from all the bad press he has gotten lately, because I don’t see how you could not like the guy after seeing him really go for it in this film.”
It is being said that the role Tom plays is the “studio boss”.
Okay, like I said before, I don’t usually like war movies, but since this is a comedy and after the comment above about Tom Cruise…I will definitely be heading to the theaters for this one! Another one of my favorite actors, Matthew McConaughey, is in this movie with a cameo roll too. He plays Speedman’s (Ben Stiller) agent, which was supposed to be played by Owen Wilson.

I am looking forward to this. Don’t remember Tom Cruise in comedies. I heard that Katie had a cameo too. I am not sure though. We will have to wait and see.

That looks funny, however that review sounds like it was written by a huge Tom fan. It just sounds a little overzealous to me !

I wasn’t going to see this film, I did see the previews but didn’t see Tom Cruise in it, but I think I might now! Hopefully what that quote stated comes true, I really hope so!

The new direction seems to be working fine to me. There are people here who may not necessarily agree with everything that Tom and Katie do BUT as we can see since the new comment policy, not sharing the same opinion does not mean you have to insult, denigrate, eviscerate and vilify Tom and Katie nor anyone else who chooses to post here.
Just let me say that with the TomKatcrazy.com of the past I would NEVER in a million years have posted here.
What was allowed to pass as commenting here previously was insulting to any decent, fair-minded human being.

I just wanted to add another thing, I think that people who dislike Tom or his family and still come to sties about them, must like them if the are searching for them. For instance, If I don’t like a certain celebrity -aka paris hilton - i’m not going to go to celeb sites that talk about her, I just look for celebs I like… OH well. But I do appreciate the NEW direction this site has taken. Love it!

Yeah, ever since I heard T.C. would be in this movie, i’ve been waiting for the trailer of Tropic Thunder to come out! I am definitely gonna go see this movie! I gots to see Cruise in it, plus it looks hella funny from the new trailer! I’m excited to see it! Oh can summer come any sooner? Glad that I will not be waiting till fall to see him in Valkyrie. But too bad that he is gonna be under a lot of makeup, but anything is better than nothing!

I did post here for a while too and like you guys I never understood people who professed to hate Tom and Katie and yet spent more time surfing about them and getting all the data on them inorder to attack them.
I am not a fan of vey many celebrities, Brangelina, Britney, Paris, Eddie Murphy, Zac Braff etc and yet I have never visited any site as non fan to attack these stars. That is why I can’t for the life of me begin to understand how these people used to post here every day so negatively with a lot of information about a couple they seem to detest. What kind of people are these anyway?
I would understand a random poster who visited the site to see pictures and expressed doubts about the authenticity of the whole Tomkat relationship. Or someone who was not taken with Katie’s new hair, or did not like her new movie. But these people have only negative things to say about this couple and yet they managed to drive every decent poster away.
In time I hope they realise that what they were doing was sick and not even healthy for them. Building up so much negative energy and hatred for strangers cannot be good for them even if you have issues with their beliefs.
I don’t care what Tom’s church did to these people, camping on the internet to slur his every movie and attack his family is mental degeneration.

you really should educate yourself on the cult this celebrity couple follows and educate yourself on the kinds of things ‘toms church’ actually HAS done to people before making such a shallow comment

@ julie - thank you for responding to my earlier comment - although you have yet to clarify HOW a self professed loud and proud fan can ALSO be ‘unbiased’ when it comes to running a site of such a controversial couple - a lot of comments that have been tried to be posted here, which ABIDE by your new rules appear to be lost in cyberspace - is this because theses posters have not posted blind gushing dribble about these faded has been celebrities?
why is acceptable for ‘fans’ to be negative and hateful about other posters, but ‘non-fan’s’ are not even allowed to defend themselves even when abiding by the new ‘rules’ - is this the kind of world that tom or katie would choose to live in?

Amy - I am not going to respond to any more of your comments regarding my job here at tomkatcrazy. I am doing my best to turn this blog around and for it to be more of a fan blog than what it was before. I like Tom Cruise movies and I liked Dawson’s Creek and I find Suri adorable. That makes reporting TomKat news enjoyable for me.
Anymore of your comments about me and questioning my job here will be deleted. I feel that I have stood by my comment policy and will continue to run this blog as I have been hired to do. I a tired of defending myself and I will not be doing it anymore. Thank you.

What it has taken previously to be a Tomkat fan
on this sute is something more than patience.
Tom and his entire family has been vilified here for
no more than being members of a controversial religion.
No other members of that church nor their families have been denigrated to the extent that Tom and his family has.
It is about time that websites such as Tomkatcrazy say enough!
Don’t like the new policy………….That’s understandable, for too long here it’s been
so much of the negative.

Good point Jeanne, the same people crying out for their rights deny Tom’s right to believe what he wants and to practice it. How hypocrytical!
It is a free world. For those who are fans of Suri but cannot tolerate Tom and Katie, there are sites dedicated to Suri Cruise and Suri Cruise alone. You can go there if this site is no longer satisfying you. No one is forcing any one to stay here. When I could not stand the former policy of ‘be as nasty as you can’ and the former administrator Leora, I left the site. So did many fans.

Thanks Jeanne. I don’t quite understand what the problem is understanding the new policy and understanding that this is now a fan site. I know I have said that many times and are annoying the heck out of people, but yes, it IS a fan site now.
People keep saying they are leaving and then they keep showing up again.
If you don’t like Tom, Katie and Suri and even hate Tom, this is not the place for you. There are many other places on the internet for people to spew their insults.

tropic thunder was the funniest movie i have seen in years. tom cruise playing a weinstein “esque” movie mogul with an anger problem that seems to put fear into anyone that he unleashes his wrath on. lol not to mention his love for the “apple bottom jeans with the boots with the fur!!” dont wanna ruin it for those who havent seen it yet. it is a classic scene

Ben Stiller movies usually run hot and cold. When Cruise came onscreen it definitely ran hot it was so hilarious. He definitely steals the show effortlessly. You can hardly wait to see his next scene.

after the major dissapointment of pineapple express which was about as funny as a verizon comercial and stepbrothers which seemed almost desperate for laughs…tropic thunder really hit my funny bone. i am so glad that robert downey jr. is getting back in the movie bizz because he is one of the greatest actors…keep on truckin RDJ
