Tom Cruise Hosts 9/11 Detox Fundraiser

by leora on April 7th, 2007

What do you think about Tom Cruise hosting a 9/11 Detox Fundraiser that supports a Scientology program?  I have mixed feelings…

Always in the thick of things, Tom Cruise will host a gala fundraiser for a controversial detox process aimed at helping 9/11 workers recover from symptoms resulting from the tragic day.

The ‘Mission Impossible’ star is a “co-founder of the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, which provides those exposed to toxic agents in the rescue and clean-up at the World Trade Center site to a detoxification procedure developed by L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Scientology,” CBS statements reveal.

The scoop on the treatment… it is said to take place over a period of three to four weeks, incorporating “vitamin and mineral supplements and cold-pressed oils, as well as aerobic exercise and saunas, rather than traditional medicines. The process, administered by the Foundation for Advancements in Science and Education (a Scientology research group), releases toxins trapped in the fat tissues of subjects.”

According to Cruise’s detox program Web site, more than 750 men and women have “recovered quality of life and job fitness through detoxification,” since the program began in September 2002.

The controversy comes in the fact that the detox regimen is tied to the Church of Scientology. Up until the Foundation’s links to the Church of Scientology were revealed, the program was heavily endorsed and set to receive funding. According to CBS, “Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) was one of several who released letters in support, who later backed off.”

Meanwhile, representatives of the policemen’s and paramedics’ unions are participating in the fundraiser, serving on the host committee.

The Post talked to Ed Mullins, the Sergeants Benevolent Association president. Mullins said “he was impressed after speaking to several firefighters who had taken the detoxification program who claimed it had reduced their dependence on some medications.”

As a result, Mullins told the Post, “I’ll do anything to help my members. I’ve got to try to do something because no one else is doing it.”

127 opinions for Tom Cruise Hosts 9/11 Detox Fundraiser

I’m neutral about Scientology but it doesn’t matter where or who the treatments are coming from as long as the treatments help those who needs it to improve the quality of life.

I’m sure the only reason people criticize something that is working (according to the people who have received the treatment
http://www.nypost.com/seven/04072007/news/regionalnews/cruise_control__pol__it_helped_me_regionalnews_david_seifman__city_hall_bureau_chief.htm), is because Tom Cruise is involved. They feel the need to put a negative spin on anything good he does. But it looks like Tom definitely doesn’t care about the cynical media and bad press he gets doing what he thinks is right.

I’m glad he is continuing his good work even though the media tried to bury him for it. It looks like he is not affected by the media backlash about his beliefs and he does what is important to him. It just shows that he really isn’t bothered about what people say and how that affects his career, instead he is staying true to himself so good for him.

Sorry the link is not working here its gain and if it doesn’ work here is the article. http://www.nypost.com/seven/04072007/news/regionalnews/cruise_control__pol__it_helped_me_regionalnews_david_seifman__city_hall_bureau_chief.htm

‘CRUISE CONTROL’ POL: IT HELPED ME
April 7, 2007 — A legislator hosting a gala fund-raising dinner for a controversial detoxification program for 9/11 rescue workers co-founded by Tom Cruise revealed yesterday he’s undergone the procedure himself.

“I will tell you I felt 100 times better after the program than I’ve felt in the last 15 years,” said City Councilman Hiram Monserrate (D-Queens).

The Post reported yesterday that Monserrate is one of the hosts of an April 19 fund-raiser for the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project, where Cruise is appearing, and where tickets are going for as much as $100,000 for a table of eight.

Officials said they hope to surpass last year’s event - which didn’t include Cruise - that raised $1.5 million.

Critics say the regimen of high doses of niacin, long saunas and ingestion of cold-pressed oils, based on the writings of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, is medically suspect.

But Monserrate said it has worked wonders for him and dozens of Ground Zero rescue workers who were exposed to high levels of toxins.

“I did not meet one person in this program who said to me, ‘Hiram, I did not feel better.’ I don’t have a science degree, but if it made them feel better, it should be made available to any rescue worker,” he said.

Intrigued and suffering from sleepless nights and a recurring upper respiratory ailment, Monserrate put himself through 30 days of exercise, dietary changes and 2 1/2-to-4 hour stints in a sauna.

“Literally, you’re flushing out for 30 days in every way conceivable all the toxins and other things that build up in a lifetime,” he said.

Jim Woodworth, president of the downtown clinic where the procedures are done, said that while he’s a Scientologist, the program is entirely secular.

“Our doctors are Jewish,” he pointed out. “We need to get past the bigotry and the hate speech. The simple truth is, it works.”

He said 780 rescue workers have undergone the free treatments.

Steve Kent of Canada’s University of Alberta, a sociologist who has studied Scientology for two decades, urged skepticism.

“Cruise’s support of this program would not be the first time he has waded in on important medical issues without having a medical background,” said Kent.

But Pat Bahnken, president of the EMTs and paramedics union, said the clinic treats his members the same as any other medical facility.

“I had concerns like everybody else. What is this whole thing with Scientology? But I would say to people if you get treated at Long Island Jewish Hospital they don’t hand you a Talmud. If you’re treated at St. Vincent’s they don’t hand you a bible,” Bahnken said.

Helen, all I can say is that am truly glad that Tom has not changed his beliefs because of how people want him to live. I am neutral on Scientology and quite suspicious of it. I take it like any other religion and am suspicious of religions as a whole. I have never seen or heard that Tom Cruise went to a place and was booed or that people shunned him. Usually he is met with adoration. The whole thing is that he is trying to help and does not stand to gain anything out of this. People have also admitted that the detox programs have helped them. Besides, no one is forced to take them or pay for them. The last I checked, it was still a free world.

I am looking forward to the pictures from the event.

I agree with all that Helen and Anna have said.
The detox programs sound very interesting.
I really admire Tom, he seems to stand up for what he beleives in in the face of such critisism and scrutiny. I’m waiting to see some recent photos of Tom.

As that Spiderman credo goes “with great powers comes great responsibilities”. Bravo to Tom for using that for the good of all mankind.
I could care less if its Oprah,American idol,Red Cross,Tom Cruise,U2,Republicans,Democrats,The Methodists,The Catholics,The Baptists,Buddhists you name it as long its to help others.
Do we really need labels to do good to others?

When you read what the detox progam entails, I think it is a good way to help thse people instead of giving them drugs which they may end up using the rest of their lives.

If the scientology detox works then there is no problem with it at all. Besides if they are not satisfied with the results, there is always the option of the drugs for them. I think I need to acquaint myself more with the workings of scientology before I pass judgement. I don’t believe all those people who believe in it are crazy as the media wants us to believe. There must be a reason why the chose it.

Some only mock Scientology by saying all this alien crap and how it sucks celebs with their money. Its sad people mock other religions when in reality they’re not educated about it.
Im Christian(Southern Baptist) so like all religions we are taught ways to convert other souls and other religions but ofcourse the best way is to be knowledgeable of this religions so I enjoyed all this teachings I got about other religions.
They cant mock Scientology that it sucks money off celebs when most religions do the same.
How can rabbis, pastors, priests and the church(congregration) go on if there’s no income from the people?
I know other religions even have strict attendance and mandatory tithes and offering.
Are they even aware how rich the Mormons are,the Vatican,Crystal Cathedral, even those pastors that make off money with their fake healing powers and exorcism.
There’s this double standard that its ok to mock Scientology but dont mess with my own religion and other religions.

Im sure if I say Southern Baptist is the true religion on this planet Im sure the Jews,Catholics,Mormons,Christian Science etc will bury me for it.

    Godspeed Tom!

Why now? If it works why he wait this long to host this? I mean it is freaking 2007 now. 9/11 was what 6 years ago.

It is a smart move to relate this clut with 9/11 heros. It helps to repair his damaged image better than katie’s shopping .

Mary I agree with you, about the double standard thing. It’s not fair at all.
    Is that discrimination ?

    Apr 8, 2007 at 10:12 pm

Amy, this was started a while back and every year, they host a fundraising to raies money to support the program since it is free for the fire fighters. There are pictures of last year’s event on katieholmes.com. This year, suddenly every one decided that scientology is crazy and thus the hullaballoo.

  • Helen
    Apr 9, 2007 at 2:43 am

Amy, Tom Cruise co-founded the program in September 2002 but back then he didn’t make headlines for every single thing like what he had for breakfast and he wasn’t popular with the tabloids so we didn’t hear about it.

To assume all those who critisize Scientology are uneducated about the organization is bunk. Most of Scientology’s strongest critics are those who have left the organization. This is NOT a religion. It is a money making machine. Yes, other religions make/have a lot of money, as well. No one is an innocent. But Tom Cruise’s big mouth has caused this problem/debate. Add his rant about ALL drugs being evil to the reprogramming of Katie and he better do some charity work. He owes it to the world. I miss the old Katie. The one who was fun, had a sense of humor and smiled a genuine smile. She is soooo different than she used to be.

I have done the detox program and it workds great! I used to have sinusitis and it went away with the program - so thorough was the cleaning. I also could think much clearer. My memory improved a lot and my spirits are much higher now. I can only tell good things about it and all the people I know who have gone through the program too can tell you only good things. It’s remarkable that only people who have never done the program will put it’s efficiency in doubt… Well, you can think what you want about Scientology but definitely the program works and that’s what counts for people who need true help.

  • It doesn't matter!
    Apr 10, 2007 at 7:46 am

I don’t think it should matter who or what religion is giving the treatment as long as its working! Not everything has to be labeled by the pharmaceutical companies. NO one is forcing anyone to use these treatments. Fan, good question I would also like to know if you’ve to be a Scientology to receive the treatment?

  • Helen

Workers accept Cruise for Relief, not religion

At least Tom Cruise has not forgotten the horrific eent of 9/11 and its impact on the health of New York’s first responders.

Quackery? Maybe. Proactive? Yes. But I know many who have gone through the program and claim it has helped them.

Not to worry: There is no Scineology “Brainwashing” that goes on just a strict supervised regimen of supplements, exercise and Sauna treatments.

At least Cruise is putting his many where his mouth is and doing something.

It it works, great. If it doesn’t, as the old saying goes, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”

    Full Disclosure Warning!
Well, it’s not really THAT big of a deal.
I went through this scientology “de-tox” many years ago. I came out of it with the loveliest, most baby soft skin. Unfortunately,it did not wipe out all the effects of nearly two decades of drug use–AS WAS PROMISED!

Anyway, at the time I did it a physical exam and release from an MD was required. My warning is this, there is no way anyone can JUST give the “de-tox” regimen a try. In order to do it at all you will have to be indoctrinated into the Scientology methodology. And they tend to use the hard sell to get you to sign up for more “processing/auditing” which will cost you exhorbitant amounts of hard earned cash (or credit. Imagine a “church” that accepts Master Card and Visa for “donations” LOL). They are not known for letting any potential donor prospects go easily. They call all the time, send literature to your home for years afteward.

My advice–DON’T DO IT! A membership at a health club is MUCH cheaper (in so many ways).

On August 1 “Pol cozies up to Scientology” by Stefan Friedman was posted, citing url:

    http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nypost/20050801/cm_nypost/polcoziesupto36cientology

“A COUNCIL member who successfully lobbied for city funding of a controversial Scientology medical treatment for 9/11 rescue workers has received nearly $100,000 from L. Ron Hubbard followers, The Post has learned.

City Councilwoman and Manhattan borough-president candidate Margarita Lopez steered $630,000 in taxpayer funds to the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project - a center co-founded by Scientologist Tom Cruise.

As taxpayer donations to the group swelled from $30,000 last June to a total of $630,000 a year later, Hubbard’s minions stuffed Lopez’s campaign coffers, donating 25 percent of her total take. The project - which employs a method proposed by Hubbard in his book ‘Clear Body, Clear Mind,’ whereby patients give up traditional medicines for large amounts of niacin, long sauna baths and exercise - opened in September 2002.

The Fulton Street project, dismissed as ineffective by the FDNY, firefighters unions and most in the medical community, treated numerous emergency workers suffering from the aftereffects of 9/11 free of charge and was entirely funded with private dollars - until last February.

Then, Lopez, serving as chair of the Council Committee on Mental Health, heard testimony from Scientologist doctors.

    And she apparently believed them.

    […]

But one good-government group expressed alarm over the appearance of a quid pro quo. ‘It is clear that the Church of Scientology has lobbied at the federal level and given campaign cash through its supporters,’ said Rachel Leon of Common Cause.

‘Clearly, they know how to advocate for what they want through the political process. We only hope that this program is being supported on its merits and not based on connections between the candidate and the contributors.’”

I wonder if Tom knows that his Hardy boy had mocked him in the past. Since we know Tom doesn’t take a joke that well he will have to put on his huge, fake smile and use his forced laugh to stay in talks for that movie. After all, Ben Stiller was ranked as a higher box office draw recently.

  • who gives a shit
    Apr 10, 2007 at 1:05 pm

Tom knows it. Ever saw them doing the MI 2 mock up on MTV?! it´s also on You Tube, Cruise and Stiller did that together after the Stiller show (Tom likes it). He´s got more humor left in him as you may think. Though, the stupid CoS connection might have killed a good portion as they´re trained to do. If you check out the water gun incident on vid, you´ll notice he actually started to laugh it off but then suddenly “remembered” how to handle it the Scientology way.

Love the gym comment. Also I might add that a gym membership would do more in the long run to actually detoxify you than the hard sell in the sauna by a Scientologist.

  • Linda
    Apr 10, 2007 at 1:15 pm

Yeah the Scientologists take all the fun and humor out of stuff. Just look at the way Isaac Hays left South Park.

“There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins. Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored. As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices.” - On why he quit “South Park” (1997) in 2006.

But wait, Isaac… You stuck around for the Passion of the Christ episode and many, many others when Christians and Jews were mocked. What about the episode when Mormons were the object of ridicule for an entire episode? But put Tom and John in a closet together forget it. R. Kelly was there too. I wonder if that mad him mad?

Scientologists should pray to L.Ron for a sense of humor. L.Ron had one. He laughed all the way to the bank with his bags filled with his followers cash (or checks and credit card slips. They accept all major cards.)

But to be honest, if ya found out you´ve been stripped off all your money w/o getting ANY of the promised returns and then even being stuck in a corner with threats left and right, would you feel like laughing?? It´s a tragedy. One that the FBI doesn´t even stop because they cash hush money. I´m glad my country is smarter than the US there and actually put a BAN on everything Scientology.

Linda, this is interesting, now the poor sad sack is reduced to doing Lays potato chip commercials.

    from Fox News
Isaac Hayes did not quit “South Park.” My sources say that someone quit it for him.

I can tell you that Hayes is in no position to have quit anything. Contrary to news reports, the great writer, singer and musician suffered a stroke on Jan. 17. At the time it was said that he was hospitalized and suffering from exhaustion.

It’s also absolutely ridiculous to think that Hayes, who loved playing Chef on “South Park,” would suddenly turn against the show because they were poking fun at Scientology.

Last November, when the “Trapped in a Closet” episode of the comedy aired, I saw Hayes and spent time with him in Memphis for the annual Blues Ball.

If he hated the show so much, I doubt he would have performed his trademark hit song from the show, “Chocolate Salty Balls.” He tossed the song into the middle of one of his less salacious hits and got the whole audience in the Memphis Pyramid to sing along.

  • Ginger
    Apr 10, 2007 at 3:25 pm

    Linda,
Tom Cruise knew about those imitations and gave them his blessing, he did appear in some of them and they were truly funny and entertaining. It is surprising that people who think they know Tom Cruise enough to hate him can miss such a thing because those imitations went on for some time. Tom and Ben are friends and I think the Hardy boy project is going to be a real hit. I can’t wait for it.

Isaac Hayes left South Park because of Scientology and that is a fact. It was the official reason he gave and even if he hated it for years (I will not believe it till it is confirmed. His official reason was the trapped in the closet episode.

  • Linda
    Apr 10, 2007 at 3:26 pm

Come on!!! He quit!!! Maybe he is getting someone to help him sing a different tune (like Chocolate Salty Balls). Or maybe he misses the sweet cash Parker and Stone helped him make, but that dude was all over the news crying foul when the Scientology episode was produced.

As for the Scientologists lack of a sense of humor. If you want out, you can get out. It may be really tough but it can be done. If Ice T. got out of the L.A. gang he was in a Scientologist can leave those crazies. It is so sad that this organization preys on the weak. I hope someday the U.S. does revoke there non-profit status.

  • Linda
    Apr 10, 2007 at 3:28 pm

Oops…in the last sentence I should have written “their non-profit”. Bad speller. I guess I need a dykshunairie.

  • Ginger
    Apr 10, 2007 at 3:47 pm

Linda you are right, I think any one can quit scientology if they wished to. Katherine Mcphee said she got a boyfriend who was a scientologist and she even started taking lessons but later realised that it wasn’t for her. (Translated; they broke up). Many people profess to have quit scientology so am sure no one is held at ransom.

Aren’t religious organisations supposed to have some sort of accountability to have the non-profit status? I think their books should be looked into.

Frankly I don’t find it a dangerous cult since it does not support any negative acts like polygamy terrorism or bigotry, anti-semitism or racism. I think it is blown out of proportion because it is fascinating with Xenu and thetans that many of us do not understand, other than that, I think it is like any other cult, self seeking with an underlying potential to self destruct in future.

THIS IS AN ANTI-TOM CRUISE SITE.
I’M OUT OF HERE. AND I’M GLAD YOU GUYS ARE HAPPY.

  • Linda

What, ‘fan’? The rabid fans have been beating up on everyone else since I started looking at this site…. so you should hang in there ‘fan’, I am sure Helen, Anne, and the others will be back to support you soon.

I am not necessarily anti-Tom but I have been attacked more than once because I am not PRO-Tom. Relax ‘fan’. Have a drink and stick around.

    By the by,

It is super hard to get out of Scientology. I did not mean that it was an easy task. Scientology like any other two bit organization preys on the weak of mind and spirt OR apeals to the person’s sense of greed.

Fan, don’t be discourage from posting. I’ve been visiting this site for a while now after hearing about it at babyrazzi and I enjoyed everybody’s input and you can like Tomkat but it doesn’t mean you have to like Scientology too. I think you can carry on following the news and some comments. I in the other hand like reading everyone’s comment even though I don’t agree with some of the things Libraesque and Miapocca say, I enjoy reading post by Mary, Anne, Leah, helen, linda and who gives a shit.

I am a fan and though am not a rabid fan, I enjoy the site quite alot. At first I thought Anne and Helen were being rude when they posted that ‘ignoring loser’ comment but now I understand them. These people can turn you into a rbid fan. I have decided like many here to follow suit and completely ignore them. I am not even going to read their posts any more. They are just jealous lowlives and if they think they can turn anyone against Tom Cruise by these methods that they are applying, am sorry but they are even sadder than I thought. So from today on wards, am

Ha ha ha, oh Ginger, bless you, what took you so long? You know these imbeciles are beyond stupid and I hope you have learnt this from their posts. Welcome to the ignoring losers club. I have not read a post from them in ages and I cannot tell you how much more I love this site.

Fan, it is cool, just stop reading posts from Miapocca and Libraesque. They are real feaces and human waste, ha ha ha!. I wish the world would not have to lose oxygen for those two.

Yeah Helen, that was what I came to post. I love their car. It is a beauty. One thing about Tom is that he has classssssssss.

Jennifer, I am glad you reconsidered. This site is not full of haters, actually there are only two very disgruntled losers you need to completey ignore and act as if they do not exist.

  • Helen

    Anne,

Come on. Wasn’t it you who had accused people in the past of being the same person? At one point someone named “!!!” accused me of being Mrs. Guttman.

You mistyped the name Ginger? Give me a break. I think you may have outted yourself.

That ignoring stuff is so childish. I was glad to see it gone. Why don’t we keep it that way.

  • Anne
    Apr 11, 2007 at 8:56 am

Linda, since I don’t ignore you and I read your posts, I will allay your fears. If you read Ginger’s post, you will notice that we are different. I am not that kind, optimistic or patient like her. The only person here who is outing themselves is you since I have never accused Linda of being a multi poster but I have accused Miapocca of that.

Who ever you are, frankly I don’t give a damn as long as your contribution is senseless, I will ignore it, if it makes sense, I will answer it. If you post as Miapocca, I will ignore you since I nolonger read Miapocca’s and Libraesque’s posts. And yes
*I am still ignoring losers big time*

  • Helen
    Apr 11, 2007 at 9:07 am

As I mentioned before I think some losers having got around to the fact that we are ignoring them. Just because we not typing *ignoring losers* it doesn’t mean we have stopped. We just don’t read their post anymore. If you actually paid attention to my comments and others we don’t respond to two of the most losers at this website but instead we comment on the topic at hand and reply to other people who make sense (both fans and non fans)and don’t insult people for no reason other than their HATE for tomkat.

  • Linda
    Apr 11, 2007 at 9:27 am

O.k. Helen maybe I ignore your posts because they make me yawn.

And Ginger/Anne could be the same person. Just because one post is a bit different doesn’t mean anything to you guys. I was accussed of being Mrs. Guttman. I went back and read some of her posts and ours were totally different… so what does that mean?

Also the name at the top is really a give away. You should come clean. You are guilty of what you have accused others of doing.

Just total silence and no allusion to the person is ignoring them . Who ever you are, Linda, Mra Guttman, Stella…, that is your business. I..DONT…GIVE A F**CKING HOOT.

I love those pictures. Tom and Katie look great. That car is amazing. Was the dinner for anything in particular?

Linda, I am not Anne, I am clare but because of my red hair, people usually call me ginger I don’t mind though some people use it as an insult. I use it often, the only other name I have used on this site is Clare and someone else uses it too so Ginger is better.

  • Linda
    Apr 11, 2007 at 11:19 am

Hmmmm…. because in the post that I was said to be Mrs. Guttman (I did not say Anne said this… it was ‘!!!’) Claire was said to be Miapocca.

Ginger, don’t you find it hard to believe that Anne could accidentally post under your name?

Your name is something you must be deliberate about entering.

As for getting over it. I did not bring it up. After the first accusation I let it slide but then some others brought it up. Just thought I would call attention to the silliness that is your own behaviour.

The accusations have largely started with the 3 foolish fans.

People usually respond and it gives them the opportunity to play victim.

I swear these are the kind of fans that TOMKAT run away from. I really find it pitiful, because he actually has to run away from the psychos fans,…he can only wish to have normal fans, but alas psychos off their medications usually gravitate towards each other…………

OMG Helen, your are right. Mrs Guttman was divorced from Texas was it??? She gave us her life history. Ummm, Linda, am seriously considering putting you in a certain category.

What do you think Helen. I was still reading her posts may be webmistress could help check those IPs.

  • Linda
    Apr 11, 2007 at 3:33 pm

O.k. I may have too much time on my hands but…

Mrs. G did not say she was divorced with kids. Mrs. G said, “I am a 37 year old female, married, no children…” in #34 on the wwII hero’s family pissed off post.

Then Anne replied that no one asked for boring details of her life and accussed her of being Miapocca. Then Helen basically turned on her after having a nice back and forth and called her a liar. Why would you believe that she is a woman if you don’t believe she ever worked on the set of Days of Thunder?

You guys can’t pick and choose when to believe someone. I would more readilly believe someone would make up a name then some of the other stuff.

That whole string on the WWII family pissed thread was great entertainment. Helen was totally friendly to Mrs. G until she spilled her story. Then it was fire breathing time. I wish Mrs. G would show herself now. She was a good writer and never lost her cool. Unlike almost everyone else here. I am trying to be patient but some of you people are NUTS!!!

Later in that same thread some “dude” named B-man showed up and Anne accussed him of being a her and someone she knew because he didn’t like Angelina…he later called her a MILF…funny… but he’s a he…. right?

O.K. Anne and Helen how do you know what parts to believe and what not to believe? I think I get it… You believe what you WANT to believe and call the rest a lie. That could be a problem for you later on. Be Careful!!!

  • Linda
    Apr 11, 2007 at 3:42 pm

  • Helen
    Apr 12, 2007 at 2:37 am

I’m actually really starting to think Linda is Mrs G after all! I honestly don’t think someone has that much time to go and read what Mrs G said and why care so much?
Again I was taking about Mrs G being a SHE and I believe that to be the case because what guy in his right mind who sounded as nice and intellectual to start with as MRS G will be using MRS? I’m dropping this already.

And yes you can check the IP address If you right click on the date of a given comment, scroll down to properties, you should be able to tell that someone is using the same computer (Windows Vista can do this). Or you can ask Webmistress to check for you.

    March 28th, 2007 at 2:43 pm

  • Anne
    Apr 12, 2007 at 8:37 am

Helen, I don’t have Windows VISTA so I cannot check these addresses properly but what struck me was that this so called Linda could be bothered enough to check what Mrs Guttman wrote that day. Although now am starting to see distinct similarities. This person’s life must be so sad as to devote all their time to a worthless cause because Tomkat are not about to split soon and we their fans are not about to abandon them. I am now starting to feel sorry for her.

  • Linda
    Apr 12, 2007 at 9:30 am

Don’t feel sorry for me. All is good. Thanks for the concern.

I read the whole thread because it was jolly good fun. You were bothered to go back and find what Mrs. G. said… are you Mrs G.?

I have said it before and I will say it again… I LOVE KATIE. Just because I don’t think Tom is good for her in no way means I want them to split. I would never wish a broken home on a child. I have said that I hope Katie would break free. But you can break free and stay in a marriage. It is about control. I wish nothing but the best for Katie.

I battled with these mind-spaced individuals for sometime before Helen came up with the idea of completely ignoring them. I thought it was very funny too and I just love posting it too.

I miss genuine sensible dissenting opinion but I would rather miss that than have to put up with brainless idiots. I love it when I am reading posts and go right past their names and posts. If there was a way I could even skip reading their names, I would.

It seems the only doubters of the thirty year old
tried and tested Hubbard Detox Sauna Regimen, the
only doubters are reporters, pharmaceutically hooked medical prescribers and media mind control.

Have you actually spoken with one or two or three
of NYFD and NYPD responders who have taken this
regimen? A new book is going to the publishers
this month that is ALL ABOUT THE VICTIMS OF 9-11
AND HOW MUCH THIS DETOX SYSTEM HELPS.

and I am the literary agent for the book.

Is this post for real? There is a post above from someone who claimed to go through the detox. She had some intersting things to say. (Post #21)

If you are a literary agent why is you grammar so poor? Your first sentence has several errors.

Perhaps to be an agent, for your self named literary agency, an ability to communicate well is not a requirement.

i’m sorry but the only thing that tom appears to be witnessing these days is the decline of his public popularity….believe it or not TOM does not equal the church of $cientology..he is merely another mindless follower..albeit a high profile one..yes the pharmaceutical industry is only interested in profit…but surely the same can be said for tom…can i ask peter…are YOU a member of $cientology? of course you are, the ‘church’ likes to keep all its business ventures tied together…i suggest you read comments 21 & 25 above, a statement from someone who claims they have been through the detox themselves…then get back to me Mr Fleming…

I did stick to the subject, but you did not respond to my subject related comment or to the fact that your writing is terrible.

I too am opposed to the over medicating of our country (and poor grammar). That doesn’t mean I believe a sit in the sauna, among other things, is going to cure all that is troubling you. Many things go into healing. The cure you are a part of promoting may, very well, be a good place for a person to begin. It will not be a cure-all for anyone.

The main problem I have with the program is the hard sell of Scientology that goes on during the cure; and the tax shelter afforded the organization for all the money they collect to supply the cure.

    Please respond.

    good morning ladies,
Linda, I googled him and found an article on Gestalt Therapy, and an interview with Fleming. There was actually a mention of Scientology in the interview, and a regret re: the involvement, however brief. SO, I don’t know if this is the same guy…highly unlikely that a “scholar” would be visiting TKC to comment.
Bottom line, the human body (both the skin and the vital organs) is NOT designed to withstand extreme temperatures, which is why when you go to a normal spa, etc, they say no more than a certain amount of minutes in the sauna, NOT hours. Couple that with high doses of Niacin, and you’ve got BIG problems. None of these people involved are medical professionals, they are merely $cientologists, which is why the medical community does not agree with these extreme measures to “cure” these victims.

Jesus Linda, this isn’t a spelling test or English exam. Try to understand what is being said about the discussion.

Peter Fleming, I am now very eager to read this book! Especially if the testimonies are from NYFire fighters and Rescuers. You must be very excited to be publishing people’s real-life stories. Congratulations!

It’s amazing how some people are so narrow minded as to immediately go against something they don’t know about. And never even give it a chance.
It sounds like a lot healthier system than modern world approved system of pill-popping!

i don’t think its ‘narrow minded’ to want to know the FACTS behind something before you embrace it..a celebrity cult endorsement doesn’t really count for much when it comes to medical FACTS now does it?

    Jennifer,

It is not an English test, however, if you are representing yourself as a literary agent it would serve your purpose to use the language correctly. After all, it is his bread and butter.

    Jennifer,

You are correct, “this” is not an English test, however, if you are representing yourself as a literary agent it would serve your purposes to use the language correctly. After all, it is his occupation.

Peter Flemming…what is being sold in not a technology per se…what every good con artist does is play with your mind and scientology uses mind control very well….Hubbard was an amateur psychologist whose writings were rejected by some of the top american journals…unfortunately he used psychology to brainwash the fools and he preaches against it..know why?, because only the mental helath professionals can recognize and help the people he brainwashes.

Also..ever heard of mind over matter…its all in the brain..several groups and cults inparticular practice this and what he did was read a lot mix up all kinds of theories and ocme up with viola his best idea ever…the BIG CON…

In short he is not doign anything new, its old age principles addedwith cultism and greed….thats the only way he could make money ,he was kicked out everywhere he went..his arrest records are online as well as his failed academic records…in short is he had not formed this cult he was heading the same path as the Virginia Tech Kid

try Rick Ross Cult website and Lemant net..cant remember and you find out quite a lot including testimonies from people who have gone through this cult system..the stories are many and so alike, that you will wonder why that many people will sit around and make up the same story, since they have nothing to gain but harrasment from the Cult heavies

Linda, I find it interesting what America going to do about over medicating children? Now all evidence point to the Virginia shooter was indeed might have been taking anti-depressants and if I’m not mistaken the shooter at the Colombia college was also taking anti-depressants. I’m not a Scientology and don’t care for it much but good on Tom for speaking about this subject even though I wasn’t happy he involved Brooke. Every since Tom spoke against it whenever something like this happens it just reminds me that he is right.

    !!!!,

My main problem with Tom Cruise’s approach to this issue is lumping all medicating into one category.

I believe well-meaning but lazy parents are having their active children medicated for hyper-activity far too often. There was a time when children could run and run all day long. Now they are esentially locked in rooms all day for fear they will be abducted. It is no wonder they are bursting with energy.

However, when it comes to adults with chemical imbalances (Yes, Tom Cruise I believe in chemical imbalance) I have seen medications help.

I have an uncle, who had a psychotic break in 1975. He attempted suicide in his kitchen. His wife walked in, and he turned his knife on her. His children tried to stop him and he attempted to attack them. Thank goodness everyone survived this horrible night. He spent 18 months in Johns Hopkins Medical Psychiatric Hospital. He spent the rest of his life on medication. Because of the medication and his therapists, psychiatrists and a supportive family he was able to live a long, productive and stable life. He died last April, of cancer, at 83 years of age.

Several times his doctors replace his medications with placebos, without his knowledge (he had agreed to this possibility when he began treatment), to test his actual need for medication. He soon would become depressed and have suicidal thoughts.

Growing up with my uncle in my life, knowing and loving his gentle spirit, and then hearing Tom Cruise say he understood psychology and it was all garbage, made me very angry.

It is a blessing for Cruise he has never known the kind of suffering clinical depression can visit upoon a family. I wish he did truly understand psychology and medication. Perhaps then he would be able to discern the difference between over-medicating and necessary medicating.

I appologize for the lengthy post.

    ________
    It doesn’t matter!

    ___________

Without the FDA , medical boards, nursing boards, do you realise how much shit you willbe peddled?????? Even now we are being given a whole bunch of crap even with the existence of these licensing bodies….Next time you go see a doctor look for his liscence number erc..ask them where they went to school…most peopel dont becasue these liscenign boards make things safer to us….do you know how may obgyn get sued for petty things…the majority of America want safe care…the difference in I bet due to laibility the Cult has you sign papers to waive away any future lawsuits ahhahahha very smart

And please its not a religion!!!!!!!!! Its a tax shelter

Read the Interview of Hubbard Jr …the thing with Scn is that is futile having a conversation with one, because they just repeat all the shit they programm into them..people leaving actually have to be deprogrammed liek a CULT…I dont know of any religions where people have to make friends only wiith church members, speak a certain way and worship some psyho socially ignorant failed arse hole who rewrote his life history to sound impressive
Read what his son had to say about him, its a son who actually worked with him but his family never joined because he wanted them to have acess tot proper medical care…after seeing a father abuse all kinds of drugs, partake in adultery, abortionand witchcraft…how the heck can you put your fmialy in harms way….Ron Hubbard dies taking a coctail of drugs..

Personal experience is the best detector of truth or falsity.
I have had some. Others have had much more. Some had had none.

Sci Church is indeed a cult, as other religions are in a more sedated manner.

Components of an entity are what count. That means that the entire entity is usually not all good or all bad. Their detox has worked wonders via endorsements of actual NYC fire fighters. I took the program, which motivated me to buy my own sauna based on far infra red. I enjoy it and know that science validates its deep benefits. Sweating has a long history of application for health.

The medical doctors who oppose this method would provide dangerous drugs with confirmed side affects listed on the inserts. I choose not to use allopathic doctors for anything but diagnosis. I hope this lends some clarity. By the way, a unigue aspect of Sci Chu is they offer courses in improveing oneself. I took one course, and it is truly self improvement. What other Church routinely offers that? I am not a Sci member of attendent. I now study Kaballah. Whatever one studies, if it is not incorporated into one’s subscious mind so that becomes manifested in her life, it is useless.

All religions, including Sci, will eventually evolve into more helpful and benign, less money grabbing.. This will take many years. For now we have religions, each wanting our money; each offering things. And some people are pleased by the cult energy, although it based on fear.
