Tom Cruise Helps Roast Matt Lauer

Tom Cruise made a surprise appearance on Friday, October 24th, at Matt Lauer’s Friar’s Club Roast in New York. If you’ll remember, three years ago Tom called Matt “glib” during a Today Show interview when they were discussing anti-depressants.

Tom was introduced on Friday after a special taping from Ryan Seacrest was shown. He walked out and gave Matt a hug and said that him and Matt were actually good friends who even vacation together. He then showed funny and obviously fake pictures of him and Matt sitting in inner tubes in a pool enjoying some drinks and another shot of them sharing a jet ski. (Man, I wish I could see those pictures!)

Tom went on to point point out his and Matt’s career differences saying, “[I go from] international movies sets to amazing parties to international movies set to amazing parties, never knowing what’s going to happen next. You have found happiness doing the same thing every day. You sit on a couch all day and interview the car from ‘Knight Rider.’ Lose my number, you glib putz,” Cruise said as his parting words.
As Tom was leaving, Matt had to crack his own joke saying, “Tom, can you stay? We can get a booster seat.”
Today Show co-host Al Roaker also had to chime in and as Tom was leaving he said, “His spaceship has to leave soon.”
At the end of the roast, Matt got up on stage to say a few words. He did mention the famous and well talked about interview with Tom. He said, “I went home after the interview and looked up ‘glib,’ and then I was burning mad!” Matt also said that him and Tom have buried the hatchet. Well, that’s good to know.
It’s good to know they have put the past behind them and can joke about it.

I really like that TC smiles all the time and nowledges the people around him and the paps too, actually the older he gets , the better looking he becomes. Sorry did’nt say anything about Matt lauers roast.

I noticed something. Maybe it’s just me, but it seems most of the interest here at Tomkatcrazy is toward Katie. There are usually not many comments posted when the topic is Tom. I have a feeling that most posters here are Katie and Suri fans first and foremost.
I could be wrong, so please don’t chop my head off, but I’ve been noticing this for awhile. It’s not a issue for me….its just something I noticed and thought I would comment on.
Sorry for being off topic with my observation! I just find it curious. :)

I must admit it passed my mind as well, but there isn’t much to discuss about TC lately and even with Katie all we do is, disect her looks and clothes, the same with Suri, we disect her life , or what we think is her life, and we all get excited when Suri gets a haircut, and even though on the E!news video Suri really didn’t look cold , I’ll be so thrilled to see her in a little coat and tights, but I’m always happy to see Tom .

I am a Tom Cruise fan. I really love Katie too and I am glad they got together. They are so well suited. There is more happening in Katie’s life now than Tom so I guess that is why we go on and on about her here.
Annie, I also love the fact that Tom seems happy all the time and is rarely seen down in the dumps. He seems to live his life to the fullest and never lets anything hold him back.

I lost A LOT of respect for Tom when he had that Matt Lauer interview. He is in a crazy, cult, brainwashing religion! Obviously, he doesn’t know anyone who has a mental illness…if he did, he would change his views! To say, there is no such thing as a mental illness…take a walk in LA or New York and watch the homeless people talk to themselves and then think again? Or, pray that a family member never suffers from depression TOM! You have to be somewhat of an idiot to fall for Scientology!

This article is so funny. I can just imagine Al and Matt saying the booster seat and spaceship comments. I wish I could’ve seen those faux vacation pictures too. That’s nice to hear they’re not holding grudges knowing how egos can get in the way…
