Tom Cruise Flashback with Connor and Isabella

Connor Cruise, son of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise celebrated his 13th birthday the other day.  Check out this picture of him from way back when.  He and Isabella were so adorable!

I think I read that Connor’s birthday is Feb 6th. If they are celebrating now that probably means Tom and Katie are not going to be around on that date. They will probably be going back to Europe to promote Mad Money because it looks like it gonna bomb in the U.S.

I think Andrew Morton’s book wasn’t released in Australia or the UK so they’ll probably head out to those areas.

I must say I read Morton’s book and it gave me a whole new perspective of Tom Cruise, Katie, her parents, Nicole Kidman (who I also think is as ambtitious as Katie) and Sofia Vergara.

This actress comes across in movies and Spanish television shows as a bimbo sometimes but she turned out to be smarter than Katie and Nicole. She took a “pass” on getting married to Tom Cruise when he started with the Scientology propoganda. She was smart.

But one thing I do have to admit, at least Cruise is telling you upfront, this is what I want you to become, he’s not telling you AFTER the wedding, he’s telling you before the baby comes, etc. if not, no wedding. I think because of his expensive divorce to Nicole, he didn’t want to take anymore chances. But I really believe now that I read this book which I found to be true that Katie will get dumped one day. That is Cruise’s style and that of other Scientologists in the book, its a clean cut from their partner. No turning back.

He will drop her because I think he knows his career will never be the same again and he wanted to find someone, perferably his wife or daughter or son who he could groom, build up and invest millions of dollars in via movies. He picked the wrong horse with Katie. If you read Morton’s book you get the feeling that his plans are two fold, build a person up (like his wife, make her a big movie star), and promote Scientology. Those two things are going hand in hand in his mind. I doubt Katie will become a big movie star like Julia Roberts once was or Reese Witherspoon is becoming. I think Katie’s star will burn out because she is attached to Cruise.

Hollywood is a fickle town. Like David Letterman said when he asked Katie if she wanted Suri to become an actress, he said “Its a tough town.”

I agree. Its HARD to stay on top and its harder for women.

    According to US Magazine:

Moviegoers didn’t flock to see Katie Holmes’ return to the big screen this weekend.

Her comedy Mad Money, co-starring Queen Latifah and Diane Keaton, came in at No. 5 with $2.3 million, according to preliminary estimates.

Cloverfield, the sci-fi monster flick, was the box office champ with $16.8 million.

No. 2: Katherine Heigl’s romantic comedy 27 Dresses, with $7.7 million. (See her in a bridesmaid dress here.)

The Jack Nicholson comedy The Bucket List ranked No. 3 with $4.2 million, while the indie comedy Juno (starring Ellen Page, who just signed on for Drew Barrymore’s directorial debut) came in at No. 4 with $3 million.

Critics had slammed Holmes for her role. The New York Times called her “the movie’s weakest link.”

Holmes, who seems to have changed a lot since her early days based on her talk show appearances this week, also recently got blasted for some questionable style moves in NYC.

Her husband Tom Cruise faced his own criticism for a series of newly surfaced videos in which he says he helped save America after 9/11 and declares that psychiatry doesn’t work.

It is a shame those kids are being dumped because they are non-bio. Maybe Tom was going to The Cut for dinner and picked Connor up as an after-thought. You know, that explains why TC wants a son so badly. He only has two teenage friends he visits with every so often and no son.
(Sorry, but real parents don’t abandon their children!!!)

They could be heading to Canada for the Scientology film round-up of Katie’s next bomb, I mean, movie.

I doubt it will do better in Europe because the contents of the book and the videos are all over the web. TC is known for his overzealousness in Scientology and those videos will not help. Also, from what I understand, Europeans are less tolerant of Scientology as a religion.

NG: Curious about some things: What role is her parents playing in this charade other than indulging the silly daughter in order to see Suri?
Do you think Suri is Cruise’s bio baby or l. Ron’s as the book claims?

I guess the adopted were only there to pose with Suri before they could really bring out Suri for PR purposes. She must not have been cute enough for Holmes and Cruise until she was 15 months old!!!!

She had given permission to Scientology to isolate her from seeing her family again, or any other “sources of potential spiritual upset,” during the Introspection Rundown.”

Battlemama: Twice I have twice to post the following and it did NOT appear
on this blog and so I will try again because I think it is scary:

    Page 278 from Morton’s book:

Katie Holmes signed a clause that ended with: “I accept and assume all known and unknown risks of injury, loss, or damage resulting from my decision to participate in the Introspection Rundown (which is when you are very ill) and specifically absolve all persons and entities from liablities of any kind, without limation, associated with my participation or their participation in my Introspection Rundown.”

The contract fundamentally changed Katie’s human rights and those of her future children, requiring that if she or any of her children were ever to suffer from mental or terminal illness, they must turn only to Scientology’s treatments.

    Let me try posting this:
    from national inquirer
    KATIE’S BOX OFFICE BLUES

IDENTITY CRISIS: Misery loves company, and TOM CRUISE - who just suffered through the agony of his “Lions for Lambs” flop - offered a shoulder to cry on for wife KATIE HOLMES before the box-office numbers were known for her comeback flick “Mad Money.”

Katie’s pinned all her hopes on a big score that’ll prove she’s not just “Mrs. Tom Cruise” - but the movie didn’t test well in advance screenings, which is why it’s been released in January, the month studios dump potential bombs. In the days before her film opened, Katie’s panic mounted, and not even Tom could guarantee a break-even $60-million take. Looks like only you folks can dry Mrs. Cruise’s tears…and rescue her fading “Katie Holmes” identity!

  • From my classroom
    Jan 20, 2008 at 10:25 am

    And earlier, TC cried…
    WHATS MAKING TOM CRUISE CRY?

KATIE HOLMES confiding to pals she’s sick with worry after finding her usually super-confident hubby TOM CRUISE with his head in his hands, actually crying over the dismal flop of “Lions for Lambs” – which he starred in AND produced as his debut offering from United Artists, the struggling studio he took over a year ago.

Despite the star trifecta of Cruise, ROBERT REDFORD and MERYL STREEP, critics savaged the preachy-talky Iraq war flick as a boring “political science lecture,” and it tanked at the box office, grossing a measly $14 million – far from the $100 million-plus it needs just to break even. Shocked Katie, who’s seen only tears of joy from Tom when they wed and when baby SURI was born, told a source he’s not sleeping well and has lost his usual appetite for food. When she found him in tears, Tom told her that “Lambs” was a labor of love he truly believed would be respected – and he just can’t comprehend the negative reaction of critics and the public. Katie’s comforting him as best she can, but knows that only time will heal her proud husband’s wounds.

ng: was the Introspection Rundown that period of sixteen days when Katie went missing after she had that business meeting with Tom? Was that “business meeting” her audition to become his “wife?”

  • Vianne
    Jan 20, 2008 at 10:58 am

also, if Katie had told her parents about Tom back before the days she went missing, don’t you think they would have googled scientology and read all about it? seems like they would have tried to talk some sense into her before she pledged her life to Tom and scientology.

You people you would be funny if you were not a little creepy.

Here are the box office estimates and they do look good

    Opening Weekend: $7,700,000
    (2,470 theaters, $3,117 average)
    % of Total Gross: 100.0%

    Widest Release: 2,470 theaters

    In Release: 3 days / 0.4 weeks

Mmmm, with a budget of $6 million. At all.

  • Jessy
    Jan 20, 2008 at 1:30 pm

    Jan 20, 2008 at 3:16 pm

Jessy: I get what you are saying that they earned their production budget back, but you are missing the point about why it is a bomb.

Here is how I understand it and someone who knows more about the industry, please correct me.

    1) That budget was for just PRODUCING the movie. It does not include advertising, paying those actors who are getting a percentage of the PROFITS, etc.

Also, consider the number of people and theatres in this country and divide the money made opening night by $8/ticket, and that is less 300,000 people in our entire country decided to see this opening night. Say there are 3,000 theaters showing it. I am looking at, what, less than 100 people per theater saw this movie opening night! Most theaters can sit 150 people per showing.

Please don’t tell me that is success. Jessy, opening night figures are in, not the projected $7.7 million you are sharing as being success.

    2) By Hollywood standards, this is pathetic for opening weekend and is chump change. If I were a director, I would not hire someone who only brought in $7 million opening weekend, especially if I were investing a lot more in a movie than $6 million and I had to pay for all the advertising that went into it.
As a comparison, Nicole Kidman’s newest movie brought in 5 times the amount opening weekend (and there was an organized movement to boycott it) and it was considered a flop. Same with Cruise’s latest movie. It may explain why UA is going bankrupt under Cruise. He can’t bring in the money any more and they have now invested over $90 million in his next flick and they are predicting it will not even make that. The movie is still not done!!!
That is a lot of money to loose on someone who considers $7 million opening weekend a success.

Also, look at the comparisons of other movies opening with Mad Money. Everyone did twice, if not three times the amount opening night.

    3) This movie was supposed to prove that Katie was still, if she ever was, an actress to be reckoned with after her marriage to Cruise. I think it failed miserably in that respect. She couldn’t even break $10 million. Even while advertising it, she was first Cruise’s wife and then Suri’s mother. She played on that fact with PR girl and Cruise following her to New York.

In regards to Classroom about the comment about Cruise’s movie raising awareness, the director for MAD MONEY is now saying she has wanted to do this movie for years, but did not have the money for it. No one would fund her.(She was interviewed in the paper here and this what she said.) She also said this is her ‘baby’ and the one she is doing for herself. In other words, she knew it would not do well.

Interesting little tidbit I found out in the newspaper about movies and a January release: Movie companies release movies in January that are a bomb to begin with. January is dubbed ‘dumping’ month in the movie industry because this is the month they reserve for movies that are expected to bomb. So, I guess to being released in January and then 7th in a month of only movies that are the ‘bottom of the barrel’ is not a compliment. Of course, the 7th ranking is only from the movies released this week too.

MAD MONEY has bombed the ‘bottom of the barrel’ category. Nice comeback for Katie Holmes, the actress.

I feel bad for her because it sounds like this is something she enjoys doing and it was supposed to be her “BIG Comeback” and the “I am not just Kate Cruise, mother of Suri and wife of TC” statement.

B-Mama: Don’t you love how the director or producer of a so-so movie always comes out after the opening when it turns out a flop and says “oh, well, it was just for my own personal fun to make it with my mad money!” Tom should have foot the bill for it!

Vianne & Battlemama: There’s basically different types of “rundowns” in the Scientology cult.

There’s a Scientology “Purification Rundown,” a process designed to purge the body of toxins through vitamins, exercise, and prolonged periods in a sauna. Katie went through this process.

However, there’s another one called “Introspection Rundown,” requiring that if she or any of her children were to suffer from mental or terminal illness, they must turn ONLY to Scientology’s treatments. She must never use psychiatric care or psychiatric drugs.

The contract had become fundamental to the church following the death of Scientologist Lisa McPherson in 1995. McPherson, who suffered from psychiatric problems after a car accident in Florida, died of pulmonary emblosim while in church care in Clearwater, Florida. She was apparently dehydrated and had coakroach bites on her emaciated body. As a result, the church was indicted on two felony counts, criminal neglect and practicing medicine without a license, effectively putting Scientology practices and belifes on trial.

As I have mentioned several times on this blog, I read a lot of biographies of actors, celebrities, inventors, etc., as I am fascinated with the lives of people that become famous or infamous.

Anyway, I thought Morton’s book was a good account of Tom Cruise and his involved with Scientology. He became involved through his association with his first wife Mimi Rogers and also through the producer of Top Gun Don Simpson who at one time was a Scientologist.

And so it makes sense that it was someone that was holding a carrot in front of him that would lure a young Tom Cruise towards Scienotlogy. That’s probably how they convert a lot of people into this cult, via a job as an actor, grip, cameraman, etc. There are so many people desperate to break into the movies and the people that are holding the cards (the producers, finance people, agents, etc) probably have conditions. I think in Tom’s case he went along with the program and then was sucked into this cult.

An interesting thing must have happend around the year 2004 & 2005, pre Katie, because Tom’s mom Mary left her husband and moved in with Tom and his sister Lee Ann got divorced in 2004. And of course we all know Katie broke up with Chris Klein March 2005 and by April 2005 was dating Tom Cruise and by June 2005 was engaged to him. Ironically right before he dated Katie, he was dating Sofia Vergara and when he invited her to the Scientology Center and after a few dates, she ran for the hills. Smart girl.

    Jan 20, 2008 at 10:32 pm

I must say, in retrospect, Tom and Katie must really be disappointed because you can tell they definitely planned last week with the procesion of a wedding or election. They were out in full force, dressed up Suri cute everytime they went out, dressed her in a good colors: red, light brown, violet, etc., most of Katie’s outfits her nice (except that HUGE Berkin bag), went out every day and night to get maximum exposure and be on the internet, ET, Access, all the popular talk shows, GMA, Regis and Kelly, David Letterman, etc.

Except the probably thought all of this PR would override the Morton book and the unexpected YOUTUBE video leak and kept getting pulled out of the Internet only to find it self right back on the someone’s else’ blog. Don’t they realize that only made more people want to see it. So much that it even made on 20/20.

Finally the public, the jury came back with a resounding “we are not interested” and boycotted Katie’s new movie which I believe was also a boycott of Tom Cruise. And this only resurrected the long list of missteps Tom’s career has taken thanks to Scienotlogy. And now just about everything this couple does one tends to be skeptical (the marathon, the resue of damazals in distress, the NY City Firemen, the perfect couple, the magical daughter, etc.).

And no matter how wealthy Tom Cruise is, this bomb must have surely put a damper on his plans, whatever they may because he also has a huge overhead, I think 3-4 planes (which I think he rents out), 2-3 houses, a large staff, security team, a wife that shops a lot at expensive boutiques, stays at expensive hotel (Regent in Germany, George V hotel in Paris, the Caryle in New York, etc).

He might have money but he also spends a lot of money. And his divorce with Nicole cost him a pretty dollar.

And there are movies that he did not necessarily star in them, he produced them that bombed (or went straight to DVD). One of them was Ask the Dust with Salma Hayek and Colin Ferrel. Who knows how many more have tanked.

I think someone also mentioned it but I think the next movie he’s involved in and also Katie are being produced by Scienotolists. He just doesn’t get it, mainstream American is NOT interested in Scientology. He has scared and turned off his fan base (especially women with children).

  • ng

And I am glad I spent money and Morton’s book (although I was originally gonna check it out at my local library) and not on Katie’s movie Mad Money.

I bet who ever is in Tom Cruise’ inner circle they are trying to stategize HOW do we CHANGE this downward spiral. Even going out with Suri didn’t help or her cute “HI” and blowing kisses. Poor little girl.

Yes, she definitley was planning this New York trip and probably had a full fashion schedule written out, what outfit with accessories, etc. The same with Suri and Cruise. Everything planned (security, drive routes, pick up time, drop off, etc). I really think they thought they could over come the Morton book. I think the YOUTUBE video hit his fan base hard and then the Morton book only pounded on them.

In the end, Cruise shouldn’t be upset about the Morton book or the YouTube video because the video is something he’s recorded of his own free will. Its not some sex tape or something that he was caught doing. He consented to record that video. Why get upset about it? Why were the Scientologist trying to get it off the Internet? Only now they have revealed themselves for who they are.

I find it highly amusing to have people post articles from sources like the National Enquirer here. Yeah…like THAT is a legitimate news source. Give me a break! I bet you think that the rings you find in Cracker Jacks boxes are real too. And the Morton book…I think it is really crazy for any person to believe everything they read. And dangerous too. I think it is possible that certain parts of that book might be based on fact but how does anyone know for sure. People would do well to remember that while they are quoting it. Some things are based on conjecture and speculation and yes, sources….BUT are they legitimate.? I am not saying that I don’t think TC is a nutjob…because I think he is. But for Suri to be biologically related to LRH!!?? Yeah…and the moon is made of cheese. Some things are just too far out there to be believed..even for the open-minded.

Remember who was the first to break Jesse Jackson’s love child and how he moved money from his non-for-profit organization to fund the child support?
    national enquirer.
Not to mention the posts are comments, OK?
As for the Suri as conceived using LRH’s frozen sperm, AM clearly pointed out that to the fanatics of the cult, they seem the child as the incarnation of their cult founder.
I don’t really believe that for I am not fanatic about the cult. But I am more into the another theory that KH got knocked up by her old boyfriend and agreed to sign the contract with TC.

I go along with your theory that katie got knocked up by her previous date. However, I think that if she does get pregnant while she is with Cruise, I would tend to believe Andrew Morton’s premise, that it would be through invitro done by the scientoligists with some defrosted sperm.

  • Lilianne
    Jan 21, 2008 at 10:31 am

I understand that this is a place to leave comments. And I am free to state that it is my comment that the National Enquirer is nothing more than a gossip rag and that I would not believe anything I read in it. Quote me something from a legitimate news source and I will be happy to consider its validity. But so called unnamed “sources” don’t do much for me no matter where they come from. Sources are easy to buy…not always easy to believe. On that note, I am off to do some work.

  • ng
    Jan 21, 2008 at 10:35 am

The book also talks about the prenup that she would get 3 million a year and 19 million for her child’s trust fund. The prenup is capped I think at 53 million. It also says that Katie wanted the prenup because she would need the money in case she ever split up with Tom Cruise and she wanted to fight for custody of Suri she was going to need the $$$ to last in court because Cruise would out last her with his legal team.

And so some things in this book are not necessarily left field, some things make a lot of sense. Things in the book the Scientologists are not quoting and saying “look that part is inaccurate, or that’s wrong.” I have yet to read someone take a part of the book and state its wrong. The Scientologist say its filled with lies or the lowest of the low, etc.” but they are not specific.

  • bumblebeej
    Jan 21, 2008 at 12:04 pm

According to the news articles I read, I thought it came across that Morton’s book *discusses* claims that Suri was conceived with LRH sperm, i.e. acknowledges that there are rumours and theories about it, but doesn’t say that it’s true. I do think that if Suri isn’t TC’s, then KH got pregnant by a previous boyf. To me, this would explain why, when she and TC first got together, she always literally stood behind him, especially after they’d been going out for a few months. She looked more than 3 months pregnant when she was outed as being pregnant…

I knew a week ago that somehow there would be a lot of pictures of the TomKat crew (Tom, Katie and Suri) making the rounds for the pr of Mad Money. They are so predictable and thought the formula of perfect family out together would draw the masses to the theaters. I knew their pr people would choreograph a family type of event like going to the zoo, going to dinner, etc. And so it made sense for them to go to New York and appear on the talk shows and also be able to be seen going to and coming from dinner and at FAO Schwartz.

I predict we won’t be seeing these three in the next week or so photographed in the US. Or at least in a situation where photographers can ask them “How do you feel about the Morton book?”
Or about Mad Money’ dizmal performance at the boxoffice. When they want to be seen, they are SEEN. When they want to leave a city without being seen they also know how to do that. Example, Tom Cruise was seen with his stepson Connor at Cut in Beverly Hills. No one took any pictures of them leaving the Carlye hotel in New York when they returned to Los Angeles.

Katie probably didn’t go to that dinner because she is too embarassed to show her face. This weekend she got a preview of things to come.
    What next Katie???

At least Queen Latifah is hocking her Jenny Craig weight loss promotion. Diane Keaton has a lot of movies and an Academy Award under her belt. I think at this point of her life, she’s in her 60’s, she is just having fun because she’s earned her dues. I think this is why she looks confident, relaxed, enjoying herself.

    Ng:
I agree with what you said concerning Katie and her costars. Queen and Diane, in my book, will fare much better. I’m not saying that Katie lacks any talent, but her her resume just doesn’t compare to her costars. Queen Latifah and I are about the same age. I remember when she first came out as a rapper. She proved herself in a mostly male dominated area. Since then, she has gone from a female rapper to a highly respected actress and spokeswoman. Diane Keaton, as you stated, has nothing to prove to anyone. She’s an award winning actress who’s career goes back decades. She has fun these days with the roles she chooses. Sad to say, but Katie’s weakest link at this point is her out of control husband. Who’s known as a joke and making her look like one in the process.

If you have a chance read Morton’s book it is an interesting read and you come away feeling that Katie and Nicole bit into the allure of Hollywood and got caught up in the madness that is Scientology. Interesting enough, Penelope and Sofia did not fall into this. They are both well know in their countries, Spain and Columbia but they did not fall into the trap. I think Nicole was not that good of a Catholic and was very ambitious. I think the same goes for Katie. She should have know better but she was probably NOT that close to her father and consequently got too involved with Cruise before she really understood what was happening. Nicole was lucky to get out of this mess. I think Katie will have a harder time.

I think Katie knew Hollywood is a very cut throat, cold, user type town and no one was knocking down her door to offer her great roles. She decided to go the route Nicole Kidman did only things right now don’t look to promising.

Good luck to Suri Cruise. She is precious looking and will end up staying with Cruise or one of his sisters. I predict this couple MIGHT last a few years and I mean a FEW years before they spilt up. However, what is happening to Cruise today is something he hasn’t experienced in a long time or ever. This backlash is I believe worse than the rant he went on against Brooke Shields, Oprah, and Matt Lauer.

And one more thing about Diane Keaton, she is a good dramatic and comedic actress. She has also dated the most talented actors in Hollywood: Al Pacino, Warren Beauty, Jack Nicolhson, Woody Allen, and several others. I bet she has a lot of stories to tell. But you can tell this is a good time in her life. And she doesn’t take herself too serious because she is confident of her acting ability.

I dont care what people says (bad things) about TOMKAT like on the top. I do believe Tom made the right decisions as well Katie. They are a great happy couple and the are on top. Katie is so much better than Nk at their time with Tom.
