Tom Cruise Confirmed to Play US President in “28th Amendment”

It’s been confirmed that Tom Cruise will play a US President in Phillip Noyce’s next action/thriller, which is entitled “28th Amendment.” He will star alongside Denzel Washington, whom I love!!

The new movie follows the adventures of an American President (Cruise) that discovers the United States is actually being controlled by a super secret organization (run by Washington) that terminates those that get in its way.

Noyce is a controversial director, who is responsible for such films as “Rabbit-Proof Fence” and “The Quiet American.” He also previously helmed “Patriot Games,” “Clear and Present Danger” and “The Saint.”

Let me just say that I hope this is a hit for Tom. I would think that since it’s a movie with Denzel that would help, but I guess he’s had some movies that have tanked in the past also. This definitely sounds like a movie I will see unlike that, ahem, other one. :D

TC and his production company need a hit- I think this story has an actual shot. They need to get it out asap tho. On the other hand, I have no such ‘feeling’ about Valkyrie. My VIEW is that TC probably should not have made that movie, but the CoS is trying to push their way into Germany and this was the vehicle they chose. Germany has just recently ruled AGAIN that they won’t accept the CoS as legit because of its strong arm tactics on its members. It is difficult to make the jump I know, but what if this is true and the CoS would even throw their own poster boy TC under the bus to make headway in a place that is openly hostile to them?? He might gladly make a movie that one has an honorable story-anti Hitler after all, and two helps the CoS get their foot more in the door in this country that has been so icy towards them. My opinion is that this is indeed possible. OK I should go back and try to sleep. Insomnia gets too many brain cells working that should be resting. LOL

    I hope this is true!

Mom, this movie isn’t actually for Tom’s production. Its a Warner Bros. production.

Regarding Valkyrie, CoS has nothing to do with it. Its the Jewish director Brian Singer and Christopher McQuarrie who brought the project directly to UA, who immediately agreed to finance the film and Singer invited Tom Cruise to take the lead role.

Here is quote from Hollywood Reporter.

“Cruise did not intend to star in the project, which was acquired last week by UA only as a production. However, during subsequent meetings, Singer became intrigued by the notion of Cruise as a central figure in the story and offered Cruise the role. Cruise signed on Tuesday.”

I wonder how they will manage with KH on Broadway and TC making a new movie. How wonderful they are both thriving.

Shouldn’t Cruise be working on bringing hits to his own company and not other companies?

Tom’s contract with UA allows him to work for other production companies. And this specific script belongs to WB

they aren’t new teeth, they are the ones he always puts in for red carpet events - the ones with the one great big tooth smack dab in the middle of where everyone else has to

I can’t wait to see both of those movies! OMG The 28th Amendment with Cruise and Denzel makes me think of Collateral! Maybe Tom Cruise will be so good, that he’ll make Denzel’s role stand out! That is exactly what he did for Jaimme Fox. He was such a good villain that he made Jaime Fox’s Taxi Driver character more real! I love it! I cannot wait to watch this movie. And even if Cruise isn’t in it, the plot alone is damn interesting!

I am lovin’ it loving it lovin’ it!!!!

I saw Cruise as Senator Jasper on DVD yesterday in LFL. He was superb! I think as a political character he is going to excel. This defintely a must watch. In the cinema too.

I have seen a short trailer of Valkyrie and it seems hot and gripping. I am going to the cinema for it. It is ridiculous to say Tom did it to promote scientology in Germany. Everything is a conspiracy these days. The man says he does not talk about his beliefs any more. Good for him.

I always hoped Tom and Denzel would appear in a movie together. That’s fantastic news!
