Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes at Gucci UNICEF Benefit
Katie Holmes wore a stunning red flowing number while husband Tom Cruise opted for what looks like a velvet blazer. The event held at the UN in New York was part of Fashion Week. Sadly I wasn’t invited to the benefit and TomKat didn’t go to any Fashion Shows as part of the week. The star studded benefit was also attended by Rosie, Madonna, Puff Daddy, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony.

Wow! Even Paris Hilton’s new movie The Hottie and the Nottie did better than Mad Money. And the boxoffice is the thermostat of the public.

Leora’s visuals here did not load for me but there are tons of pics on Just Jared of course. Looks like Katie took some “posing” lessons from Posh in those pics. I am getting so weary of this fake couple. It makes me sick that they get so much press for doing nothing but going in and out of restaurants and expensive shops and dressing up in expensive clothes for photo ops at galas and various “movie star” events!

As we all know, the latter is right before they left for New York to promote Mad Money and Katie was since coming out of a hotel which where she filmed a press junket for Mad Money.
These two are now reduced to showing up at galas, award shows, coming and going out of restaurants. She doesn’t look very happy in these recent pictures (where her hair is swept to the side). She looks like she’s going through the motions. A far cry from Jan 15 when Mad Money was about to open and in her head she probably thought she was the next Judy Holiday from the classic Born Yesterday).

Its EXHAUSTING to try and pretend you are happy. After a while, all the things that used to make you happy (at least for a while), like buying a new dress, new hairdo, makeup, shoes, going out with your husband, etc., no longer do it. You have to be happy with yourself first. In none of these pictures does she look genuenily happy. She looks tired in a dressed up way. Well I guess that means they are back in Los Angeles. And again I don’t believe there were any pictures of them taken leaving the hotel they stayed at in New York. Clearly, when Katie was promoting Mad Money all those trips coming in and out of the Carley hotel, restaurants, were planned. I would not be surprised if they leaked it to the press the time they would be making their exit.
In this recent trip to New York all that was photographed was TOMKAT at Madonna’s fundraiser. No entrance/exit to any hotels.
When these people want to be photographed they are.
I’ll never forget right before Princess Diana and Charles split up. They were at a dinner with I believe a Korean diplomat. Diana looked miserable. She no longer wanted to play the game of “I am happily in love with my husband.”
I believe the same will happen with Katie because she was never genuiely in love with Cruise. She was in love with the things he has: private plane, money, stylist, makeup artist, full time cleaning staff, mansion, and she thought the keys to make her a SUPERSTAR actress, etc. She didn’t expect this backlash. Cruise tries to act like it doesn’t bother him but I am certain it does that’s why they are out and about. He’s the one that has movie coming up Valkierie and if that bombs things will REALLY change for these two.

I know every angle might not mean something but Katie is not happy. Even if for a split second she had to look down at her feet. She does not look happy. She looks like she’s really sad but was convinced to go out to this event. At this point they will go to the opening of an envelope.
Good luck to Suri Cruise. I always feel for the kids involved because they did not choose to be born. Two adults created them.

NG I agree that these two look like they will appear at anything to be seen. She does look exhausted. I guess I would be too if I was “trying” to get some shred of my reputation back. Too bad that going to fancy galas and posing for the cameras just aint gonna cut it!

when would you guess was the last time either of them set foot in a museum? (not counting Katie’s little jaunt to a museum with Suri for another photo-op). My guess would be a 6th grade field trip. the scieno managers must be working overtime to get them “classed up image” photo ops.
who the heck is stylist??!! she’s been wearing some really unflattering weird things lately.
can’t remember who said this but…the red number at the Gucci thing…yeah- a home-ec project describes it the best.

but looks like he got some new big boy (lifts) shoes!
did you notice KH rarely puts her hand on his shoulder anymore. calls too much attention to the height issue. I saw the best pic of the two of them but can’t remember where- I will try to find it again- anyway it was early on in the “relationship” and they were posing in a tight hug of course- but they were so close, his head was nestled on her shoulder! no lie- freaky! it was hilarious, and before the ‘beefed-up’ lifts I’m sure.

The red dress is absurd looking, like it came from Goodwill. I also love Toledo Fan’s comment that it looks like it was made in Home Ec. True that. As usual her posture is awful. At the other function, with her hair up, I think she looks gorgeous, although they should’ve toned down the orange at the tanning salon that day. It is refreshing to see her without those awful bangs for a change. It must’ve taken a lot of shalack (sp?) to mat those things down. And what is up with her smug and smarmy expression in every single picture??? (I’m referring to ng’s link).

Paris Hilton’s movie did NOT make more than Mad Money. Mad Money mad 7.6 MILLION on opening weekend with a total of 19 million so far. Paris’s movie made 9 THOUSAND.

Cruise is not aging well. Katie looks too thin and not genuienly happy. I don’t think Cruise will ever recover from the recent backlash. He has the same “face” in the recent events they’ve attended like if everything is okay. But in his eyes you can see “worry.” The big change was noticible at the Screen Actor’s Guild award show. He tries to smile but its not the same over the top laugh or smile he usually displays. Katie’s expressions are even worse. Each time she is seen, after the Mad Money promotion, she looks sadder: the Joan on the Third (alone), and then with Cruise, and then the Malawi fundraiser (in the red dress), and now this LACMC gala. She looks sad/depressed. The nice make-up, hairstyle, dress, high heels, etc., can’t take away the sadness in her eyes.
The last time Suri was photographed was when she was seen blowing that kiss and saying “hi.”
Boy, on Perez Hilton there are several postings after the picture of them at the museum gala from a former scientologist and her remarks sound scary. I would be so scared for Katie and Suri if they were related to me. How the heck could this girl get caught up in all this. I find it HARD to understand how one would allow their child to be born into this life. God help Suri.

I went to the perez site and read the comments. NG: Yes, I agree this cult is scary, but you have to understand that Katie and Suri will never be a minion like that girl was. It is people like that girl who will be waiting on Katie and Suri. At least that girl got out while young. What parent in their right mind would be seperated from their child like that?
Why should KH care about a minion any more than she would a housekeeper or her daughter’s nanny? They are there to worship the ground she walks on and cater to her every need and whim. That is what Katie wanted and fell in love with Cruise for, isn’t it.
Reading that commentary from that girl, it makes the ‘wheat field’ story from TC/Nicole Kidman days believable.
I liked the comment about Katie turning into Nicole Kidman. With the scarf, that dress with the scarf did remind me of Kidman and that red dress she wore last year with the big red bow at her neck and the scarf.
Did you read the comments about how Cruise and Holmes have been relegated to being photographed with the likes of Nicole Ritchie, Christina Aguliera, and Paris Hilton, the ‘I will be photographed and seen just about anywhere’ crowd. It is a sad commentary about how they have fallen from the top of the A-list mountain of a year ago to the top of the dung heap. Still wonder where all their A-list Bffs are. Even Posh has dumped KH.

Did Cruise actually donate money to the UNICEF/Raising Malawi benefit? I read he bid a big amount for something, but lost out to a higher bid. Isn’t it a bit strange that he and Katie are at a fundraiser for a Kabbalah-based charity?

I did some searching on box office results for Paris Hilton’s new movie vs. Mad Money. Here is what I found…and I will post the 2 links.
The Hottie and the Nottie was released Feb 8 to 111 theaters and grossed 25,000 during the opening weekend.

So based upon these statistics, it would appear that Mad Money was the winner with an average of $3,132 per theater and Hottie and the Nottie pulled in an average of $225 per theater.
