Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

The Tom Cruise in Star Trek Rumor Just Won’t Die

by Julie Bonner on April 15th, 2008

E! caught up with Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, who will both be playing Spock in “Star Trek,” and asked them whether or not Tom Cruise will be in the movie. They both looked at each other, then there was a pause like they were trying to figure out what they should say and then one of them said, “Not that I know of”. You can totally tell those two know something! Here’s the video clip:

So, do you think Tom Cruise is in the movie or not?

Or maybe they didn’t know what to say. Or maybe they were thinking, “You have to be kidding me!! There are more important people in this franchise than Tom Cruise.” Or they were thinking: “When will this rumor ever die?”

Star Trek is also put out by Paramount. I seem to remember Paramount firing Cruise several years ago because of how nuts he went over Katie and Scientology. Sumner Redstone even said after their lunch date that Cruise is not working on projects with them and most likely will not until after Valkyrie is released.

JJ Abrams knows where his paychecks come from and it is not Cruise.

Darin: I love my Tom, but that is Classic.

I didn’t hear that part of Redstone’s statement, just that he declined to say whether they had talked business and that they had agreed to meet for dinner in the future. I am surprised he would say that though since Tropic Thunder is a Paramount/Dreamworks movie and Tom is in it. JJ and Tom are friends so maybe he was just visiting the set that day, guess we’ll have to wait and see.

As a long time Star Trek fan, (I believe in make-believe aliens) and the franchise being owned by Paramount which is run by Redstone who just has been basically parodied in Tropic Thunder by none other than Tom himself; hmmm not sure this has been chance.

I can’t wait to see anything he is in. I just checked seems Lions for Lambs was one of the top rented DVDs in Canada this week. Second to ” no country for old men”

This rumor still going? You never know, he might be in the moive but they are keeping it a secrete like Tropic Thunder was supposed to be if it wasn’t for that picture of Tom on the set.

We’ll probably find out once the reviews are out.

If he is in it, of course I will book my ticket in advance. Tom said right from the start that he never rules out working with Paramount again.

JJ Abrams’ friend Greg Grunberg who’s appeared in most of his shows and movies, said in an interview there would be lots of cameos in the movie. People JJ liked working with and big stars who were fans of Star Trek and had called him. He put them in disquise and put them in the movie. Tom did visit the set not long ago, the official word was it wasn’t to film anything, but who knows! Will be fun trying to recognize people if what he says is true. I am a big fan of JJ Abrams and am looking forward to seeing what he does with this movie.

What is your source for this one?
JUNO also came out this week too and did better in the theaters than LFL. It also won awards. Either way, both came out yesterday, so isn’t this a bit premature to make it seem like a favorite for DVD rental.

Darin, there is a follow up article on foxnews.com. Also, you really should see the YouTube video. There is another video clip being released today or tomorrow.

Actually LFL came out on 4/8 and Juno on 4/15 and for the period ending April 13th in Canada LFL was second in rentals and fifth in sales…………This is according to Blockbuster video, Canada.

Back on topic………..The rumor about TC having some role in Star Trek had him as the maimed Captain Pike character. We’ll see.

Thanks for the info. I have been following the Trek movie ( I am a Trekkie.). They picked another actor for Pike. Cruise was in the running, but Abrams supposedly picked someone else.

Bruce Greenwood is playing Christopher Pike. I remember reading on the Star Trek Home page last October that Cruise was not getting the part.

Star Mag: Tom & Katie’s trial separation and the Battle Over Suri.
“Crushed by the weight of her marriage to Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes is striking out on her own — and she’s determined to take their daughter, Suri, with her to New York City. But insiders say that Tom’s having none of it.
According to our sources, Katie, who was offered a role on Broadway, is trying to break away from her controlled life under the watchful eyes of her husband and move to Manhattan in what will be a sort of trial separation.
“She desperately needs to be on her own for a while, but there’s no way Tom is going to let her take Suri away,” an insider tells Star. “There’s no way he’ll allow it. He just doesn’t want Katie — or Suri — out of his sight for long. He told her that if she goes to New York, fine, but he goes with her.”
Further, the couple’s tug of war over their daughter has intensified as of late.

“Tom wants to call all the shots when it comes to Suri,” says an insider. “He has a lot of rules, and there’s conflict.”
With all this drama going on with her parents, adorable little Suri — who turns 2 on April 18 — seems to be getting lost in the shuffle and spends much of her time with nannies instead of her parents.
“She gets a lot of attention,” notes another source. “But every child wants to be with their parents — there is no substitute.”"

And InTouch Mag wrote the marriage is over.
    “Katie wants her life back!
Three years into their relationship, Katie Holmes has realized that she wants more than her husband, Tom Cruise, can give her.”

Do you guys think it’s true? I hope not! I can imagine how beautiful Suri will feel over her parents divorce.

Really, kids need their parents. I guess Connor and Bella are the exception to that rule! Instead of Louisianna, Europe, and New York with their parents and Suri, they get camp in Oregon with the Scientologists and living with their Aunt for the majority of last year (Apr-Nov).

Lookia: I was just saying that they are from tabloids and the infamous ’source’. But, I noticed since Tomkat got together, they were in break-upville every Spring and then physically fit and happy Katie came out in June. (Sounds like a new Barbie doll–LOL!!)

It does make for an interesting read, though. Thanks for sharing.

Seriously, I am not being mean or attacking you…Just sarcastic about the article.

It would be sad for any kid to go through a divorce because most parents tend to get on with their lives and treat the ex-spouse bad.

Can you also imagine how Katie will feel if Cruise did leave her and his new girlfriend had Suri call her ‘mom’ and the woman stated that in the press for Katie to read?
Can you imagine how little Suri will feel if Cruise said the next woman he dated and married was the one he loved more than Katie or Katie said that about her next boyfriend/husband? Trust me, comments like that are devasting to children.

I would like to hope no child would go through the divorce of their parents, except if things are abusive at home.

I dont believe any of that stuff in OK, but I would love some new pictures of them looking fabulous. Has anyone see Katie’s hair shorter. How does it look?
