Will Smith Talks to USA Today About Tom Cruise

June 27, 2008 by Julie Bonner

will-smith-pictures-01-small_nc.jpgIn a new interview with USA Today, Will Smith defended his pal Tom Cruise. Smith mentioned that all the criticism Tom received because of his Scientology faith was “painful for me to see. I’ve met very few people committed to goodness the way Tom is.”

Many, many people have said that Will Smith has obviously converted to Scientology because he is best buds with Tom. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Will raised Baptist and said that he still remains a Christian today.

Will said, “We disagree on a lot of things. But even with different faiths and different beliefs, at the end of the day, goodness is goodness.

I love what Will says about their friendship next. He says that it thrives on rivalry. What’s their current competition? Who can sign autographs longer. LOL.

It’s hard to beat that dude,” Smith said. “He has another gear. He did two-and-a-half hours in France for Mission: Impossible on the red carpet. Now when I go to France, people will say, ‘You know, Tom was out here for two-and-a-half hours.‘”

If I only had friends that agreed with all my beliefs and ideas, I would be one lonely, pathetic and angry woman. :D I have friends from all walks of life, and from all religious backgrounds. I admire the friendship that Will and Tom have.

(Side note: I know that anything that has to do with Scientology is a touchy subject here. Feel free to argue your points or state your opinion, but please, no name calling or disrespect for each other’s opinions.)

Tom Cruise’s Fencing Room

June 23, 2008 by Julie Bonner

will-smith-pictures-01_nc.jpgHave you heard the latest news that Tom Cruise has convinced friends Will Smith and David Beckham to join him in his latest hobby - fencing!?

The Daily Mirror was interviewing Smith and the subject of Tom Cruise and fencing came up. He told them that Tom has a room in his house that was built for practicing fencing. The three friends hang out there and practice their swordsmanship.

Smith said, “Tom has a room for training. We don’t get enough time for hanging out, just us three guys, so this is his way of getting together and bonding. David and I go to his home and just do fencing. It’s a lot of fun.

Why fencing?

We wanted an activity that was strenuous, but we’re getting older - we have to think about slowing down. We’ve got to watch our joints. Especially my knee… Ow,” said Smith.

After that comment, I now have a picture in my head of three old men - Cruise, Smith and Beckham - battling it out with swords. Let’s hope they don’t hurt themselves!

Video of TomKat, Suri and Connor on Movie Set

May 19, 2008 by Julie Bonner

tomkat-suri-pictures-01.jpg connor-cruise-02.jpg

There is video footage from X17 Online of Tom, Katie, Suri and Connor from the set of Will Smith’s movie “Seven Pounds”. You can view the video here.

I have a little more information about the movie and Connor is now listed as a cast member. It is said that he is playing a “Young Ben“. Will Smith plays Ben, the main character, in the movie.

Here is a possible synopsis of the movie:

Ben (Will Smith) is an IRS agent who is depressed and guilt-ridden about mistakes from his past. He sets out to make amends by helping seven strangers. When he meets Emily (Rosario Dawson), a beautiful woman with a heart condition, he falls in love with her, thereby complicating his plans. Woody Harrelson also appears as a blind pianist who befriends Ben.

It sounds like a good movie. I’ll go see it just for the sheer fact that I want to see Connor Cruise act! Right now it has a release date of December 12, 2008.

Good Quote from Will Smith

March 23, 2008 by Julie Bonner

I just think that Will Smith is one of the most level-headed celebrities I know. I wanted to share this quote with you that I thought was just great.

Smith, a good buddy of Scientology poster boy Tom Cruise, says he is not a church member. “You don’t have to be Jewish to be a friend of Steven Spielberg. You don’t have to be a Muslim to be a friend of Muhammad Ali. And you don’t have to be a Scientologist to be a friend of Tom Cruise,” Smith tells us. “I am a Christian. I am a student of all religions. And I respect all people and all paths.”

I couldn’t have said it better myself. Thank you Will Smith. :)
