Is Tom Cruise Coming to Boston?

June 19, 2009 by Julie Bonner

Tom CruiseAccording to Boston.com, Tom Cruise is set to film his next movie there “Wichita”, co-starring Cameron Diaz.

Not much is known about the script yet, but we do know from Variety that it centers on a single woman who meets a mysterious man on a blind date, and he turns out to be a handsome secret agent.

Reports are saying that the movie will contain some action sequences and that the producers have already approached state officials about securing permits for the close of bridges and roads during shooting. A location scout has been in the area looking at several neighborhoods for possible shoots.

This film is still not listed on Tom’s IMDB page and there’s really not much out about it. Stay tuned as more info leaks here and there!

I am really looking forward to a new Tom Cruise movie. I thought “Valkyrie” was okay, but it’s not really the type of Tom Cruise movie I like. Wichita, Mission Impossible 4, The Materese Circle…those are all movies I am stoked about!

Cruise and Travolta to Team Up for “Butch Cassidy” Remake

April 6, 2009 by Julie Bonner

It’s time for some more Tom Cruise movie news! We recently heard that he will not be starring in “The 28th Ammendment” and that he is still eyeing certain movie roles. The latest movie news is that he and good friend John Travolta may team up to do a remake of the classic 1969 “Western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.

The article says that Tom received the blessing of Paul Newman (who played Cassidy) to do the movie right before he died of lung cancer in September. Tom would play Sundance and Travolta would play Cassidy. Robert Redford was the original Sundance Kid.

The film about two lovable Wild West bank robbers charmed a generation and garnered four Oscars.

Cruise intends to produce the remake through United Artists, the “golden era” studio he jointly owns after helping resurrect it as an MGM subsidiary in 2006.

A source told the Daily Express, “Butch and Sundance is a labour of love for Tom. He was eight years old when he saw the original and it made an impression that has stayed with him all his life. He can’t wait to get to work.”

Tom Cruise Will Not Star in “The 28th Amendment”

April 1, 2009 by Julie Bonner

Apparently Tom Cruise was never officially attached to star in “The 28th Amendment” like we had all heard. One thing is official though, the Top Gun star will not be in the movie. He has bowed out and is still looking for his next movie project, according to EW.

Sources are saying that the two movies we can expect to see him in are most likely Matarese Circle with Denzel Washington and DreamWorks’ Motorcade. Cruise is also still rumored to be starring in Witchita with Cameron Diaz and Hardy Men, where Tom and good friend Ben Stiller would star side by side.

I would personally love to see him do all four of these movies and I am disappointed he is not doing The 28th Amendment. It sounded like a great film.

Several Studios Vying for Tom Cruise’s Attention

February 19, 2009 by Julie Bonner

ASG-020661 Tom Cruise’s career is on fire right now! Several studios are vying for him to be in their movies. In fact, there are at least five suitors trying to get Cruise to say yes. I love it!

Last week, it was announced that Tom Cruise was being linked to star in “The Matarese Circle” with Denzel Washington (hubba hubba). Cruise has had a couple of rough years, but has turned things around. Studios are now saying that their enthusiasm for Cruise has returned and that is such good news for those of us who love Tom Cruise movies!

Here are the top three candidates where we may see Cruise star in:

  • “The Matarese Circle” with Denzel Washington.
  • “The Tourist” with Charlize Theron. A rewrite was sent in this week from Christopher McQuarrie, who also co-wrote and produced “Valkyrie”.
  • “Motorcade”, a thriller “that pits the U.S. president against terrorists who commandeer his motorcade on the streets of Los Angeles”.

Other projects he has been linked to include: Check them out below.

Want to Buy Tom’s Used Coffee Cup?

February 11, 2009 by Julie Bonner

GERMANY-US-ENTERTAINMENT-TV-WETTEN-DASS-CRUISE

Someone is trying to sell a coffee cup used by Tom Cruise for $2,000 on this website. The cup is from Tom’s time in Rio de Janiero, when he was there with Katie and Suri, to promote “Valkyrie”.

Here’s what the auction says: "I am selling the used cup of coffee from Tom Cruise in recent visits to the beach in Rio De Janeiro. You can see in the photos that I had the chance to get the cup as soon as it left the place."

Yes, I am a fan of Tom Cruise, but I would not buy his trash! Gross! I think I’m going to have to pass up this auction.

Hitler Artifact in “Valkyrie” Causing Trouble for Cruise

January 3, 2009 by Julie Bonner

upiphotos902112-Valkyrie-Premiere Apparently an artifact that Tom Cruise used in his movie “Valkyrie” has upset one San Fransico advertising executive.

A replica of Hitler’s globe was used in the movie and Robert Pritikin, who paid $100,000 for the original globe, says that it was used without permission.

Pritikin owns the copyright of the globe’s image as well. He has copyrighted the image to prevent it from being used in neo-Nazi propaganda and was surprised to see it show up in “Valkyrie”.

Investigator Paul Barresi, who was hired by Pritikin, said, “Pritikin believes the globe should be used as a teaching tool so the lessons of Hitler’s nightmare can keep history from repeating itself.”

Most likely this was just an oversight and can be handled quickly and resolved in court.

Baressi has come up with a possible solution to the problem. "I think it would be a wonderful gesture of good will on Tom Cruise’s part to purchase the globe along with all of the other Hitler artifacts owned by Mr. Pritikin and donate them to the [Simon] Wiesenthal Center,” he said.

Tom Cruise Movie News - What’s Fact, What’s Fiction?

July 19, 2008 by Julie Bonner

There is all kinds of buzz going around today regarding Tom Cruise and movie roles. Earlier in the month, there were reports that Tom Cruise may star in the movie “Edwin A Salt“. Fox news has come out to say that Tom is being replaced by Will Smith and that Cruise is out of the role because of two reasons: money and the fact that his movie career is over.

Here’s a snippet from the Fox News report:

But now Cruise is out, and I’m told it’s because of money. Apparently, Tom is unaware of the change in his status in the Hollywood community. Where once he was the top-paid star, Cruise now is in a position where a $20 million salary is not possible. I’m told an internal memo went around among the film’s producers and top creators in which the Cruise situation was discussed and names were gathered for a replacement.

The reasons for Cruise’s departure are not just his diminished popularity, negative public opinion and Scientology — although those would be good enough. It’s also just generational. Cruise is 45. His heyday as a box office star — if he ever had one — is over.

Ouch! When it comes to Tom Cruise, people pull out all the rudeness they can possibly find it seems.

Well, according to ComingSoon.net, those rumors are completely false. What? False rumors about Tom Cruise? I’m in shock! (Pardon my sarcasm this morning.)

Tom Cruise Website Created to Thank Fans

May 8, 2008 by Julie Bonner

tom-cruise-pictures-04_nc.jpg

I know this is old news, but I am playing catch up. Most of you know by now that Tom Cruise has his own website - www.tomcruise.com. What do I think about it? Well, it’s about time!! I can’t believe he hasn’t had one before and I am glad to see him joining the 21st century. I am hoping that it will be a great resource for Tom Cruise news.

You can see a great break down of the website here. I browsed through the website on my own for a few minutes and my first impression is that it was well done. I drooled my way through the gallery, and enjoyed the pictures of him. I also like the film gallery and being able to see at-a-glance the films he has been in.

The home page picture almost makes it seem like he is standing in my office. Nice. The way they did the layout with his movies playing in the background is brilliant.

Okay, so enough about my critique of his website. Let me ask you this… will you visit his website on a regular basis? Now, be nice okay? A simple yes, no or no thank you will work. :D The greeting message says that the website was done as a thank you to his fans and yes, he does still have fans. Do I agree with some of his personal and religious beliefs? No. Do I enjoy seeing him in movies? You bet, so yes, I will frequent the website and I am really hoping they keep it updated.

More About Tom Cruise’s Appearance on Oprah

People Magazine has confirmed the report about Tom Cruise making an appearance on Oprah. I absolutely love the opening line of their article:

Hold onto those sofa cushions: Tom Cruise is coming back to The Oprah Winfrey Show.”

I think we can all probably laugh at that line and I am hoping that something will be mentioned about that whole incident when he makes his visit. The whole world will be tuning in that day to see if it’s brought up don’t you think?

Cruise’s rep, Julie Polkes, tells People “Tom will be doing the Oprah show. He is really looking forward to it.” As are we Julie. :)

Here are a few tidbits about the show:

The show, which will appear in two parts during May sweeps, will celebrate Cruise’s career since his breakout role 25 years ago in Risky Business.

One part will be shot in-studio before a live audience. In the other, Cruise will show Winfrey around his Telluride mountain retreat and do a portion of the interview at the home.

I think this is a smart move on Tom’s part. Although it may be tough for him to come out in public like this, with everything that has been circling around him, I think that he needs to do this. I do hope he opens up about a few things and that he seems real and honest. I don’t have any dates of the shows yet, but I’ll keep my eyes and ears open. I rarely get the chance to watch Oprah, but I definitely will tune in the days he is on!

Are there any rumors that you hope he will address? If so, which ones?
