Is Tom Cruise Coming to Boston?
June 19, 2009 by Julie Bonner
According to Boston.com, Tom Cruise is set to film his next movie there “Wichita”, co-starring Cameron Diaz.
Not much is known about the script yet, but we do know from Variety that it centers on a single woman who meets a mysterious man on a blind date, and he turns out to be a handsome secret agent.
Reports are saying that the movie will contain some action sequences and that the producers have already approached state officials about securing permits for the close of bridges and roads during shooting. A location scout has been in the area looking at several neighborhoods for possible shoots.
This film is still not listed on Tom’s IMDB page and there’s really not much out about it. Stay tuned as more info leaks here and there!
I am really looking forward to a new Tom Cruise movie. I thought “Valkyrie” was okay, but it’s not really the type of Tom Cruise movie I like. Wichita, Mission Impossible 4, The Materese Circle…those are all movies I am stoked about!

Ed Solomon Talks His Next Project “The Hardy Men”
June 3, 2009 by Julie Bonner
Screenwriter Ed Solomon talked to reporters about his newest project “The Hardy Men”, which will star Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise. “The Hardy Men” takes a new look at the characters from “The Hardy Boys” book series.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview where he mentions Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise:
With Men in Black you were able to create fantastic situations and yet step back and acknowledge them. Is that the kind of approach you’re planning to take with The Hardy Men?
Solomon: Yeah, well, the source material for Hardy Men is just the, … it’s not so much the books themselves as what we remember, or what we think we remember from the Hardy Boys. But, really, … because it’s Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller, who are such really interesting actors, to me, it’s really about these guys who are middle-aged men who are completely screwed up from having peaked in high school, basically, and have not evolved since then. They don’t speak to each other anymore, live in different places, have disavowed their past, [and] have to come back in and sort of really deal with their own really complicated psyches.
So, I guess that means the movie will star those two. After re-watching their Mission Impossible “Mr. Crooze” video clip again, I can not wait to see these two in a movie together. They obviously have great comedic timing with each other and the fact that they are such great friends in real life, well, it could be one very fun movie.

“Valkyrie” DVD Review
May 25, 2009 by Julie Bonner
“Valkyrie” was released on DVD May 19th and I finally had the chance to sit down and watch it. I chose not to see this film in the theater and after watching it, I wish I would have. Everything is better on the big screen! I guess I need to get me a big screen like Tom and Katie.
Although the movie started out a little slow for me and this wasn’t one of my favorite Tom Cruise films, the story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is absolutely fascinating. What that man sacrificed for Germany and freedom was amazing.
The reviews of Tom’s performance were all over the place. Some called this the “best performances of his career”, while others were less than impressed. I don’t really know if I could say it’s the best of his career, but I did think he did a phenomenal job portraying this character. This is definitely a movie I will be recommending to those who haven’t seen it. I think knowing about this story is important.
Here’s a description of the film:
Ben Stiller as Tom’s Stunt Double
May 11, 2009 by Julie Bonner
I have seen all three Mission Impossible movies, but somehow never saw this clip with Ben Stiller and Tom Cruise. Ben is Tom’s “stunt double” and they filmed this hilarious video. Have a look.
I love the end of the clip where Tom is saying that Ben has influenced his career. He says, “What people don’t realize is that he has been an influence on me. He has influenced my career in some shape or form and I appreciate that”.
While Tom is saying this, they are showing clips from Tom’s old movies, but with Ben acting out those famous scenes. Too funny!
Studios Spend Millions to Doctor Scripts for Cruise
April 22, 2009 by Julie Bonner
Variety is reporting that Tom Cruise is narrowing his choices of his next big role and that he has “single-handedly propped up the script doctoring biz”. What do they mean by that? Supposedly, studios have spent millions of dollars on rewriting scripts tailored to Tom.
They are saying that script writers for these potential films for Tom to star in have been making as much as $250,000 a week, for two to six weeks. The rewrites come with notes from Tom.
The films that have been reportedly revised are "Wichita", "Motorcade", "The Tourist" and "Matarese Circle". It has been announced that Tom Cruise will not star in “The 28th Amendment” or “Lost for Words”.
Since I am not in the depths of the film world, I have no idea if rewrites are common or not, with notes from the potential star. I do know that Tom’s next move as far as a movie goes is very important. He needs to choose wisely and make sure that the film is exactly what he wants.

Filmaker David Cronenberg Talks About Meeting with Tom Cruise
April 9, 2009 by Julie Bonner
Macleans.ca talked with filmaker David Cronenberg about meeting with Tom Cruise. He’s planning on directing The Matarese Circle, starring Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
Q: Last weekend you met with Tom Cruise at his house. We’re all dying to know what that was like.
A: Well, it’s a beautiful house. He’s been there for a year. He’s renovated it with impeccable taste. It’s really beautiful. I would live there, no problem.
Q: Was it business-like, casual?
A: It was casual. We were just getting to know each other. We did talk about The Matarese Circle, but we’ve talked about that before. I’m doing an original script basically. He’s read 40 pages and really liked them, and liked the character I had written for him, which is unusual for him.
Q: Why did you write it for him?
A: MGM was excited about putting Denzel and Tom together, and so was I. We all agreed that I should write the script. So I had these two guys in my head—you can’t not have them in your head at this point. The only other time I did that was with Spider with Ralph Fiennes attached, but there was already a script then.
Q: Were you intimidated by Cruise. Did you feel you were auditioning?
A: We’re all auditioning for each other, which makes it easy to take frankly, in the sense that we’re sizing each other up. But with Tom it’s so complimentary because he really knows his directors. The media version of Tom and the real version of Tom have no connection. It’s so bizarre. He’s a really smart, personable, well-educated-in-cinema guy. When you’re talking to him you’d really like him to be your friend.
Q: Did the Scientology thing spook you?
A: I don’t necessarily know any of the religious or philosophical beliefs of any of the actors I’ve worked with, or my crew. Every now and then you have a special relationship with an actor that involves discussing such things.
I think this is going to be one great movie. I can not think of two men that I would rather go to the theater to see in a movie together. Brilliant casting. You can read the rest of the interview here.

Cruise and Travolta to Team Up for “Butch Cassidy” Remake
April 6, 2009 by Julie Bonner
It’s time for some more Tom Cruise movie news! We recently heard that he will not be starring in “The 28th Ammendment” and that he is still eyeing certain movie roles. The latest movie news is that he and good friend John Travolta may team up to do a remake of the classic 1969 “Western Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”.
The article says that Tom received the blessing of Paul Newman (who played Cassidy) to do the movie right before he died of lung cancer in September. Tom would play Sundance and Travolta would play Cassidy. Robert Redford was the original Sundance Kid.
The film about two lovable Wild West bank robbers charmed a generation and garnered four Oscars.
Cruise intends to produce the remake through United Artists, the “golden era” studio he jointly owns after helping resurrect it as an MGM subsidiary in 2006.
A source told the Daily Express, “Butch and Sundance is a labour of love for Tom. He was eight years old when he saw the original and it made an impression that has stayed with him all his life. He can’t wait to get to work.”

Tom Cruise Will Not Star in “The 28th Amendment”
April 1, 2009 by Julie Bonner
Apparently Tom Cruise was never officially attached to star in “The 28th Amendment” like we had all heard. One thing is official though, the Top Gun star will not be in the movie. He has bowed out and is still looking for his next movie project, according to EW.
Sources are saying that the two movies we can expect to see him in are most likely Matarese Circle with Denzel Washington and DreamWorks’ Motorcade. Cruise is also still rumored to be starring in Witchita with Cameron Diaz and Hardy Men, where Tom and good friend Ben Stiller would star side by side.
I would personally love to see him do all four of these movies and I am disappointed he is not doing The 28th Amendment. It sounded like a great film.

March 26, 2009 by Julie Bonner
According to Variety, Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz may be teaming up on the big screen together again. The film is currently without a title, but has been previously named Wichita and Trouble Man.
Tom and Cameron have not signed on yet, but are reportedly set to do this friendly romantic comedy together. The film centers on a woman who is unlucky in love and keeps crossing paths with a mystery man who she meets on a blind date.
The Vanilla Sky co-stars are the second couple reportedly attached to the film. Before them, Chris Tucker and Eva Mendes were rumored to be starring in the film.
No start date for filming has been announced. The film is in the midst of a re-write.
I hope this is true! I would love to see Tom Cruise in a romantic comedy.
