Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

Suri Cruise’s $100,000 Birthday Bash

by Julie on April 23rd, 2008

suri-cruise-pictures-03_sp.jpg

There are reports circulating that Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise spent around $100,000 for Suri Cruise’s second birthday bash. I don’t have the entire break down of what they spent that money on, but here are a few things that are being listed.

  • $17,000 on fresh flowers
  • $5,000 on  cakes
  • $230 on cupcakes

We also know they spent a pretty penny on balloons and lots of them from the pictures we saw. Sources are saying that Suri adored all of the balloons and that she had a great time at her party.

We are also reading that the theme of the party was butterflies because Suri loves butterflies. A source said: “Suri adores butterflies. It was immediate family and their closest friends only. There were no celebrities invited to the daytime bash.”

Reports are saying that there were 24 people in attendance at the party and that included family and friends such as Tom Cruise’s two kids Isabella and Connor, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman. I am hearing also that there was a second party which included friends such as Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, David and Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria. This is the first I have heard of a supposed ’second party’.

So, what else do you think this couple could have spent $100,000 dollars on for the party?

What a load of rubbish! Don’t forget this story is from In Touch weekly who had them breaking up last week. And how sad they didn’t even mention Katie’s parents?
Last week according to OK mag Suri is supposed to be allergic to followers and there wasn’t going to be any at the party but according to In Touch there was. lol I love it when they contradict each other.

Anyway, thank you for the story Julie.

I can’t imagine that it cost a $100 grand for this party. That is probably part of the regular Hollywood hype-image is everything- If one star spends $10 grand another has to spend $20, etc The masses are just willing to believe anything. Now the pictures did show the ladies with floral wreaths on their heads and flowers on the men’s hats. Maybe they were silk flowers? According to X-17, There was another $45 grand on Wolfgang Puck catering the day event and a later evening party as well.

As usual this is embellished. I doubt they even spent a quarter of that. People said that there would be a PR party, I guess this is to follow up that story. Sadly there is someone who will believe it and complain that the money should have been used for better causes.

Every one seems to have had a nice time. I guess such days are more for the family than the kid. You get together and see people you have not seen in ages.

lauren, a quarter of that would be 25 thousand. $$$$. LOL. my brain can’t process anything over a few hundred for a toddler’s b-day party. but, i suppose lin their world a few hundred might be seen as neglect.

From the pictures I don’t see anything they could have spent it on. Maybe a diamond tiara for the birthday girl, who knows. I can’t say it was an extravagant party from the pictures. Dannielynn Birkhead’s party seemed bigger. Most media outlets are calling it a low key party. Can’t have cost much.

all you saw was the courtyard, basically the parking lot as they were waiting for everyone to get out of their cars, gather, and enter the building. i don’t get why people are thinking that was the party.

There are other pictures of them with girls in tiaras and boys in hats. Like a hawaii theme. On another site.

Star Mag has on it’s cover: “Suri’s Birthday - Katie’s Tears”. Has anyone read the story yet?

When my grandson was that age, it was mostly adults although the children did run around and play. We would just have a barbeque and relax and enjoy the day. Of course his birthday is July 5th so that would make sense. This outside gathering surely is not the party itself. I imagine they actually partied inside out of view of the invasive papps. Someone on another site I visit called that bakery and was advised that the cake was roughly $1250. not $5 grand. I would not be at all surprised if this party came to around $20 grand but $100 grand?? That has to be quite an exageration. Now the night time party? That might have cost a whole lot more–haven’t seen the pics from it yet.

I hate that Julie would quote In Touch, of all magazines. Nobody buys In Touch, they are so flat broke that 93 percent of their stories are fake except for the pictures and real news stories that come out, that they cover. If I was gonna quote one of these rags, it would be People. People is more sophisticated and almost always gets it right!

I don’t think they spend that much. Cause the party in the pics, only had balloons, and them wearing flower tiaras. a small DJ, and probably a few snacks and cake. It looked pretty simple. I doubt that cost that much.

Apparently there were several parties and I am sure Suri did not get presents from the local Target, Wal-Mart, or Toys R Us. So, who knows, $100,000 could easily have been spent.

Katie can drop $100,000 in one afternoon at Barneys or Nieman Marcus.

i’m totally speculating, but i believe that tom is spending all this money to keep katie happy. it’s part of how he nabbed her in the first place. i know i’m going to hear it from the fans, but you can’t deny katie’s really into money.

Well, NOS, there were stories back in January that Katie took Suri to FAO Schwartz in New York and dropped a bundle. Other reports said she spent around a cool $million at Christmas. The girl does know how to shop and spend the money!! LOL

  • jenna
    Apr 23, 2008 at 10:56 pm

Yeah… I agree, that cake never looked like it cost 5 grand. Initially, I remarked that it appeared quite average to me, similiar to what my local bakery could produce.

I read that the party was a “tea party” theme. Hence the straw hats for the males and flower hair pieces for the females.
    No, not $100g’s.

There’s no way this was a $100K party. My best friend is a head cake decorator at a bakery, and does specialty cakes at home, and she wouldn’t charge anywhere NEAR $5K for that (hers would look better, too). Given that they’re in California (even though we are in Upstate NY), I wouldn’t put more than $1K on that cake, and it had to have some kind of sinful fillings and such in it.

Think about it. $230 for cupcakes and FIVE GRAND on a cake? I don’t think so.

  • kelly

I am sure I will get ridiculed for this statement, but I believe it to be true. There are prices for normal people…and then there are prices for rich people. They probably did charge them more for that cake, then they would have charged a ‘regular’ person.
But 100,000…that is just a blatant lie.

  • tyler

given the fact that these bakeries sit on some of the most expensive real estate in the country, you can bet they’re charging a hefty premium. i don’t believe it’s about charging one person more over another, but the area. it’s all about status.

leave them alone, they are very happy family, why meddle of how they spent their millions, it’s their money not yours, you are just jealous bec

    Faci,
I believe that the topic surrounds the party and the cost of it. People, from my perspective are just giving their opinions. Personally, would I spend that much money on a party for a two year old even if I could afford it, probably not, but I don’t think that in any way shape or form makes me or anyone else on this site who may or may not do it “jealous” of these individuals. My needs and many of my wants are taken care of. I would be a fool to be “jealous” of someone because they’re better off financially. I’m thankful to have the wonderful life and family I do have. I really don’t have TIME to be jealous of the guy. I think that there might be some others here who feel the same.

Doug, Thank you for a very nice post.
When we make the choice to live one way it is NOT because we are “jealous” of the person that lives another way.

If you look at what they did for the party, I can’t see it costing anywhere near $100,000.It seemed to be a very simple age appropiate
    affair with family.

  • Lara
    Apr 25, 2008 at 5:18 pm

Oh I just LOVE when “die hard fans” seem to think they know what everyone REALLY means when they write a comment. Like they’re the next Dr. Phil or something.

I agree - It’s not jealousy about how much they have/spend. It’s a discussion on if the reported amounts are valid, and personal statements about overspending on a 2 year old’s birthday she likely won’t even remember. No, we’re not celebrities, but it doesn’t mean we want to be.

How sad to think that someone with so much money would be so selfish. I have never understood how someone with nothing that all of a sudden had everything, could all of a sudden forget where they came from. I have lost all respect for Tom and Katie. I guess that all of those hungry, homeless, helpless children don’t matter at all to these celebrities. How sad!

There were several parties that we don’t have pics of nor do we have pics of the actual party here. The guests appeared to be leaving. Also, we don’t know how much Suri’s dress cost, presents, possibly building rental, etc. That is all included in the cost of this bash.

  • No One Special
    Apr 25, 2008 at 7:09 pm

As I said before, Katie can easily drop $100,000 in an afternoon at Barney’s and Nieman Marcus, so why not just as easily for this bash.

According to this week’s People Magazine:
It is described as low key with dancing coloring etc.
They went bowling at a Hollywood bowling alley, they had a group dinner at the Beverly Hills Hotel’s Polo Lounge and took in a performance of My Fair Lady at L.A.’s Ahmanson theatre.

    What are the odds?

no matter how much moeny you have a 2 year old doesn’t need a 100k birthday party who or what are they trying to impress it can’t be suri she won’t even remember it in a week. what’s the point, how self indulgent are we all getting when we think think this is great for a fricking 2yr
    old

  • tyler
    Apr 26, 2008 at 10:13 pm

it’s all relevant really. when you live in a 35m house, 100k for b-party probably may seem normal.
and, given that katie changes thousands of dollars in wardrobe every time she goes out, it’s not that much of stretch, tend to believe it.

Perhaps they spent money on a new outfit? (Shoes, a dress, hair stuff, etc.) Plus party favors and stuff.
