Suri Cruise the Artist
Last night, Katie Holmes took Suri Cruise to Make, which is a paint-your-own-pottery place. I would love to see what Suri made! I bet she had a lot of fun being creative. I have been to several birthday parties at places like this and the kids always have such a great time and are extremely proud of their creations.
Suri is looking so cute in her purple dress and green shoes. I LOVE her green shoes! Katie wore black leggings and purple flats.

Isn’t Suri too young to be painting some pottery? I remember Katie once mentioned that Suri loves to draw. But drawing on paper is different from painting some pottery right?

I’m sure Suri had fun slapping some paint on a ceramic piece as only a 2 1/2 year old can. She might be young, but I bet she still had a wonderful time!!
She looks adorable in these pictures. LOVE the new green shoes and the pretty striped dress! Too cute!!

No. Suri is not too young to paint pottery. She’s 2 years old. You can use a paint brush to freestyle paint a bowl or coffee mug for Daddy. You can do the mommy hand-over-hand technique to practice and have fun. You can even sing songs and talk about what you are painting together. It is a very fun, engaging activity to paint with your child. It is never too early to paint with your child as long as your child is having fun with you. That is pretty much true of almost any activity. Kudos to Katie for balancing a career and motherhood. She understands the importance of getting out there and doing things with her child. Why is it that so many people believe that a child must be a certain age to enjoy and/or learn from certain activities? Painting is a great activity for listening, practicing color identification, fine motor skills, engaging with others, sustained attention, and facilitating self-expression. All preschool teachers understand this. I wish more moms did.

has anyone here seen the show on TLC “Jon & Kate + 8″? Its adorable, about a family raising twins and sextuplets (3 boys, 3 girls). Anyways, in one of the episodes, Kate took all the girls (the twins are girls too) to a pottery place like this. The twins were 7, but the little girls were 3, just a bit older than Suri, and they had a ball! The employees of the pottery shop were so great with the kids, helping them out, showing them the ops and just letting their little creative minds run free.
At that age, it’s not much about how great the piece comes out, etc but more about you and you kid having fun, and you have something to look back on that fully represents them at that age. :)
I think it’s awesome that Katie & Suri have been having so much fun in NYC! :)
I’m right there with ya m, on being curious about what she painted. I think often you return in a week to pick up your finished piece (after it’s been through a couple firings), so just maybe we might get a glimpse. ;)

I think Katie is a very good mother, eyeryday she takes Suri out and introduces her to different fun things, and I also like not seeing a nanny tagging along, just Suri and her mummy, I think this is the real Katie we’re seeing as opposed to the Katie that used to hang around with Victoria B and perhaps allowed herself to be influenced a little bit by her, because maybe she was’nt sure what was expected of her, I like this natural Katie, than the one who took Suri to the park in high heels while in Germany. You can see every morning that she’s just stepped out of the shower dressed and off to work, its a very appealling look.

Poor Suri is always covering her eyes from those flashing lights, sad the photogs can’t leave them alone once in awhile.

Just going to point out that Suri is still using a bottle?.? Why have we not moved on to at least a sippy cup?
She is adorable though!

it is pathetic that she is using a bottle. And 18 month old babies can paint pottery.

are people serious who comment on this site? its not like they are throwing pottery on a wheel… they are holding a brush and putting colors on a plate. what is the fascination with this two year old child? She is just a person just like her mother. I am here to do research on clothing and am shocked at the commentary. Get a life.
