Pictures of Tom Cruise in Fat Suit Causing Controversy
Last week a picture of Tom Cruise in a fat suit showed up online and now the photo agency which took it is asking people to not use it anymore. It seems the Cruise camp is peeved about the picture:
The fat suit is out of the bag.
A would-be surprise cameo by Tom Cruise in a new Ben Stiller comedy has been "ruined" by a prying photographer, the actor’s camp said Monday.
A photo of a bald, flabby and hairy-chested Cruise walking on the set of Stiller’s Tropic Thunder—while wearing bald, flabby and hairy-chested prosthetics, natch—was posted on at least one celebrity blog last weekend.
By Monday, perezhilton.com was calling the photo, since excised from much of blogosphere, "The Picture Tom Cruise Doesn’t Want You to See" (but one the notoriously no-holds-barred site itself didn’t post, although it did link to a European Website that did).
As of last Friday, the photo agency that took the Cruise shot did not want editors to use it in their magazines or TV shows.
"We would request that you do NOT publish the pictures in your broadcast or publication until further notice," Insight News & Features, or INF, wrote in an email.
In the message, the agency, which claimed a staff photographer got the on-set shots "without breaking any criminal or civil laws," said it had "received correspondence from Tom Cruise’s attorneys." It did not detail the nature of the correspondence.
Cruise’s camp didn’t go into the legal issues, either, but it did issue a statement on the fat-suit flap.
"Mr. Cruise’s appearance was supposed to be a surprise for his fans worldwide, and the goal of Mr. Cruise, his team and the studio was simply to protect this surprise," a spokeswoman said. "Once again, paparazzi, in this case INF, and media outlets have ruined what should have been a fun discovery for moviegoers."
Tropic Thunder, about actors who go from making a war movie to starring in a real-life conflict, boasts a large cast, including Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Robert Downey Jr. and Stiller, who also directs.
While at least one all-star cameo has been made public—Matthew McConaughey, filling in for the sidelined Owen Wilson—there had been no word of a Cruise cameo. Until now.
Cruise and Stiller are considering costarring in the comedy Hardy Men, about the famed teenage sibling detectives, all grown up.

With the way our media is, it is hard to do anything without someone noticing. Makes you want to watch what you do, especially being a celeb.
I guess Cruise camp can get upset about a fat suit pic, but they are very silent when PR baby is on the cover of a mag representing Scientology beliefs or the baby is constantly photographed. (I think KH probably has her own little girly laugh and says “Oh, how cute, my baby is famous.”)
I guess fat suits are not okay to photograph, but (exploiting) their kid is.
All the more reason I believe they use Suri for their own PR because the Cruise Camp is quick to get upset about a pic of Tom on set somewhere DOING HIS JOB and not their daughter photographed everywhere.

OMG! Balletmama,Tom Cruise’s appearance in this movie was supposed to be a surprise…this movie is not even listed at his IMDB page. The flim crew were doing it secretly but the paparazzi ruined it. Why don’t you read the article before commenting next time!

I did the read the article, tia. I guess I should have wrote they are more upet by a surprise being given away, then the press photographing their kid all the time.
I think I did comment in the first paragraph about how hard it is to KEEP SECRETS WITH OUR MEDIA and TECHNOLOGY!!!

I saw the picture on dlisted it was truly disgusting. YES he had on Katies old prosthetic belly, it was unfastened and just hanging there, but he had no shirt on and you could see HIS paunch and his disgusting FLABBY granny arms and ghostly white skin

It is so so so over for this guy…that was the cherry on the demise of his star status. I think even his die hard fans (like Tia who is still lurking around this site) will not be able to help themselves from having a different image of tc.

I saw the picture too. The man didn’t really need a “fat” suit. Looks like he hasn’t been missing any meals at the table!! He really needs to tone that bod up. When they say some people “let themselves go” he really did “let himself go.”

As if his “adoring” fans would enjoy this stupid surprise of seeing a baldy Tom in a fat suit. Maybe if they put him in the fat suit and then shot him from a cannon I would laugh. Maybe they could aim it in the direction of the Andromedia Galaxy and send him home.

OK, so TC is paunchy and pale, did you get the promotion?? There’s no way he would make the 100 s e x iest right now. Maybe 10 years ago, but he’s way past his prime. Have you noticed many headlines are referring to him as “Katie Holmes’ husband”? No longer biggest movie star in the world, but Katie Holmes’ husband. And who the h e l l is she??? What a SLAM!!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody. Isn’t it interesting how we’ve not seen anything about their anniversary, but they were out and out like crazy before the Lions for Lambs release. I have a gut feeling that Katie is in hiding and scared beyond belief about the release of the Morton book. They are so HIGH PROFILE when it suits them. I would guess there wasn’t much to celebrate on their one-year anniversary. I would imagine Katie is strategically planning her exit from this nightmare debacle. Oh, and TC, get the hell over yourself. Don’t dress up in a fat suit if you don’t want people poking fun at you. I would imagine the point of the whole thing was to be FUNNY. You have absolutely NO SENSE OF HUMOR, and you take yourself WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. You’re the only person in the world who takes you seriously. We all think you’re a complete JOKE.
