It looks as if it was a great party. Katie’s sisters, brother and parents and Tom’s family and their friends. They couldn’t have asked for better weather.
It’s wonderful that Tom and Katie now have their own home with plenty of room to grow.

I’d say it better be pretty spectacular for somewhere in the ballpark of $50 million with the redo. So, it is just move in ready and they are basically off to Colorado for the Summer–can’t blame them there really- way to hot in LA.. But the estate he was renting for so long was not shabby. Here sits a HUGE almost gaudy expensive home-while thousands across America are losing their homes at the moment–and the owners won’t even be enjoying it. Don’t think Katie is actually going to be in either place if she is seriously working on this play thing, so I guess it is sort of a moot point anyway..She probably will exhaust herself by trying to commute back and forth to see Tom and Suri. I sure hope he is willing and planning to do the same for her.

Why would they put so much money into a house and then not even live in it?
With all of that square footage, can you imagine how many homeless could be off the streets?
I am not saying that it is up to tt to solve the worlds problems (even though he is the only one with the power to do so).
Maybe his cos will be using the property during his absence so he can at least get a write off!

How do you know they won’t live in it? LA is their main residence and they have older children who don’t usually travel with them because of schools and the fact that they don’t like being in the public eye. As for their home in Colorado, that is their “holiday” home, where they spend xmas and other holidays. I’m actually surprised they don’t have more properties like Clooney, Kidman and Pitt and Madonna, all over the world.

Plus the philosophy of homeschool depends on the family! Like Mary said, from what we know about the Cruise children, they’ve experienced the world first hand and now they’re teenagers they can shift to other methods as they gain experience.

Main house is main house. The LA house is the main house of TOMKAT’S family and its absolutely right to keep it and make it pretty comfortable even tho they are away for work or holiday. It will be back home! They have a such huge house cos they could afford it. I wish I owned that house,ooooh…

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!
If I had the energy I would rewind several threads and we would see the same people complaining that Katie was tired of living with her mother in law and should get a house with her husband and kids. Now they think the home is too big, what do you want? They move into a two bedroomed house? Tom made his money and it is his to be spent as he likes.
Let me remind you that he is the one whose kid gets to be called a rosemary Baby. This business has the good, the bad and the ugly. Money is the good, Tom has lots of it. Let him relax in th ecomfort of whichever home he chooses while he gets over unsavoury unauthourised biographies, the leaked internet videos, hate sites calling him names and speculation about his private life. Sheesh.

And just because kids are home schooled does not mean that they like being uprooted every week, they are teenagers and have a say in their lives.
Sadly we live in a capitalist world and even if Tom and Katie gave up their home to the homeless, there would still be homeless people in the world. There are worse culprits, the Spellings have a 200 roomed house. Give them a call.

Little children don’t like being uprooted either. They need stability just about as much if not more than teens!! Ask any child psychologist, MOTHER, or parenting expert.
Trust me, kids get onery without stability and a good schedule.
So, is this the house Katie gets to keep when she gets her walking papers?

Teens also need PARENTS to guide them! Just look at Britney Spears, Lindsey Lohan, etc. Kids who parents left them alone to finish raising themselves.

There are a few here with it. I still think most here DON’t HAVE kids, yet think they how to raise them.
But, with TOMKAT, since they are so amazing and do everything perfectly, including raise children, we should all take some lessons from them. I guess I can abandon my kids at age 12 years, since that is what happened to Connor and Bella. COOL- I have a few years left that I need to actually parent!!

Sorry to interrupt the love fest. Cough. Shouldn’t the lecture about uprooting kids be over at Pitt Watch, from the pictures Suri has enjoyed staying home for long spells. I agree stability and routine are key in raising kids but just because we see Katie in NY does shopping with Suri itdoes not mean they are staying there, they have private planes to go and come as they please Katie said they do sometimes wake up and fly to another country and return in the evening. They have been stationed in LA as their central place of residence.
They are AMAZING, LOL.

The Romans called it Conspicuous Consumption…showing off how rich you are. I don’t care if they live in a cave-but HE bought the house. She sure doesn’t have that kind of money. Star, athletes, and so many other careers make ridiculous amounts of money.. Way overpaid for what they do.. TC has reportedly put about $100 million into the CoS-including some of their ‘charitable’ causes. Altho I find it sort of ‘over the top’ to spend so much money on a home you may or may not live more than a few months a year, it is his money to spend. But look at O–she has a $50 million house along with many others. TC better watch his pennies tho, cuz if his studio or his movies don’t pick up some major $$$, his fortune will be history..

You shouldn’t worry over much Con mom, he is not buying houses all over the world like some stars. Infact despite his wealth he is one of the frugal ones. He was renting his former house after all. Even if Katie shopped every day of the year, I doubt she could use up even a fraction of his wealth. She too has money, she made 2 million from Batman, I doubt she has finished all the money she has made. 600mil is quite a lot of money you know.

I would bet that tc has helped kh invest her money into some of his investments and lets her spend “his” money.

I think over his career, he may have been worth the $600 mil but from everything I have seen lately, aside from properties, and physical assets, which may bring his wealth to that figure, he currently is worth around $150-200 million. I read somewhere that Katie spent almost a cool million on Christmas. I actually believe that figure to be in the ballpark. She was in a spending frenzy back then. The new home cost what around $35 mil and they renovated for around $15 mil right?? I love when you say he ‘rented’ a home before Katie. yes for over a Million dollars a year. And it was smart for him to do that as he travels ALL the time. I don’t think this latest home was so smart to buy because it looks like they will rarely actually be in it.

Concerned Mom when Cruise rented it cost him less than a million dollars a year.
I have no idea what Cruise is worth but I think he is worth far more than $100-200 million.
I feel the opposite of him purchasing a home, I think it’s about time.
If we look back over these past three years,Tom and Katie have spent most of their time in LA.
LA will be their main residence.

LOL! Darin, we can assure you he is worth a lot more than that! He was paid over $70m for War of the Worlds alone.
Lets say if TC is worth $250m, they can use the interest rates alone to spend on whatever he, his children or his wife needs to, without touching the $250m. Lets not forget he gets money everyday from all the movies he produced…be it when someone buys the DVDs or when the movie is shown on TV. So don’t worry about TC’s money. :)
And if you google it its says Tom is worth over $500m and that is about right if you just google it.

Just FYI, Tom’s mom and his sister and her kids live in their LA home. They are probably their most of the year, not the jet setting couple that the Tom & Katie are.
From what I’ve read, Tom is a pretty controlling/involved father and husband. He spends time with his kids and when not with them, calls and checks on them and talks to the nanny often, with very specific instructions. Connor and Bella, now being teenagers, may be glad to have a little freedom with dad gone.
As for Suri and schedules, I am sure they do have a schedule. Tom is very structured - and he seems crazy about that kid. He and Nicole got up at 5am-ish daily for workouts back when he was with her, so I imagine he has a similar routine now. He is very ambitious and disciplined (as long as he doesn’t start acting wacky and sharing his crazy beliefs, which really decrease his popularity, he’s a great actor and business man and can easily act and do deals for years to come).
Since they have have their own private planes, I am sure taking a ride to Colorado is a pretty common event for Suri - much like other kids going to grandmas. Plus it sounds as if they go there in summer, which again over time becomes a routine for Suri.
I think they have a routine of their own, but one many of us can’t conceive of. We make daily commutes to work via cars and they make weekly or monthly commutes via planes.
As for Katie, it is true she doesn’t have near the money Tom does. But her dad is a lawyer and secured her a good prenup. She and Suri got 1 $19 million trust up front (prior to the marriage) and then she gets $3M per year of marriage to Tom. So add that to her movies and upcoming broadway, and she isn’t doing bad.
But no, she’ll never compete with him. He’s a Hollywood powerhouse and she’ll be screwed like Nicole if she leaves him. She’ll never have the money to compete with him in long custody battles, and he would likely fight for Suri and cut off Katie if they split (he did this with Nicole and his other kids; he’s quite possessive of his children and he’s got a lot of money/power and knows it).

I forgot to mention that I also just read that Tom’s house is often used for Scientology retreats and activities, which doesn’t surprise me. He is heavily involved, best buds with head of Scientology David Miscaviage.
He’s practically (unofficially) 2nd in command in Scientology. His mom and his sister both converted, as did Katie (signing a contract before he proposed to her, likely a condition to his proposal…the fact that Penelope Cruz didn’t convert was a relationship killer; Nicole also lost interest as their 10 year marriage waned).

Tom Cruise Divorce Move Could Cost Nicole Plenty
Those who wonder what caused Tom Cruise to file for divorce so swiftly, at last here is an answer.
Under California divorce law, a couple married less than 10 years is not considered to have been in a “long term marriage.” Cruise filed his papers on February 7, citing the length of his marriage to Nicole Kidman at exactly nine years and 11 months. The Cruises were married on December 24, 1990; Cruise claims the couple separated in “December 2000.”
This would refute claims made in other publications that the Cruises renewed their wedding vows on Christmas Eve.
Donna Weaver, an expert family attorney in Hollywood, explained to me: “This gives a presumption that spousal support should not be considered.” In other words, Cruise is asking the court not to force him to pay alimony to Kidman. If he’d hesitated much longer, Kidman would have had a much stronger case to cash in on their ten years together a possible $300 million net worth.
On his divorce filing, Cruise also checked off box marked 7g, which indicates that he wants the court to enjoin Kidman from receiving alimony. He also checked off two boxes regarding custody of the couple’s children Isabelle and Conor indicating his desire to have a strong participation in their lives. “He wants more than visitation,” Weaver said.

Tia, you’re right, no one here is disputing that he has enough money for many lifetimes, just not at the level you claim. And Katie is spending spending spending it as he sleeps:) Katie just doesn’t fit the bill here because he TC always had a reputation of being very careful with this money. Guess you have to change your business model when you marry a young trophy wife who’s hung up on you as a movie star and the financial freedom that implies.
I read in one of his interviews that he used to write out the paychecks in one of this movie sets because he keeps tight control over his finances.

Tyler Katie also has her own money, granted not as much as TC but she has money of her own.
Remember as well that Katie owned a home when she lived in NC filming DC. She lived in that home while filming DC.
She also purchased an apartment in NY before meeting and marrying TC.
This is a woman who knows sound financial advice and if you’ve seen the home she grew up in, she isn’t unfamiliar with what being wealthy is.

Mary, if Katie had to spend her money, the well would have run dry long ago. Her parents are well off, but hardly the kind of wealthy where you drop thousands of dollars each time you buy an outfit, which in her case is every other day. She owned a 200K home in NC. Nice, but hardly wealthy.

I think people do exaggerate Katie’s shopping.
She shops a few things for herself hubby and the kids…..by the looks of things she like to go shopping herself and not send someone else. When you say every other day, that is not really true, is it? Unless the paps have stopped taking pics of her. Besides even celebs who don’t have that much money are seen shopping more times than Katie. Also don’t forget celebs do gets free dresses/stuff for award shows.

She is seen in the media all the time and she never has new wardrobe. The handbags alone cost a mint. Maybe it’s small potatoes for TC’s budget, but to insinuate that she buys a few things is laughable. She’s clearly a shopaholic. She has modeled herself after Posh who’s not taken seriously. On the bright side, I guess you could say they stimulate the economy:)

Tyler, I’m with you on this. If you see pictures of Katie BEFORE she hooked up with Cruise, the quality of her clothes was not haute coulture or even very expensive. Clearly, she was an actress with a limited budget. She does not come from humble beginnings but her parents are not millionaires. Her father is a lawyer and he became one after he got married and had five kids. AFTER she became Cruise’ partner you so her wearing designer clothes like Armani, Lavin,
etc. She also fixed her nose and had other type of plastic surgery. Why? In Hollywood you have to look as perfect and beautiful as possible because its an image and talent business. That is why people are so obssessed with looking fit, young, beautiful.

Suri Fan….if katie put on weight and grew her hair she would look the same as she did years ago. different hairstyles and a bit of weight loss makes a person look different……….plastic surgery, honestly! katie also attends functions that she needs to be dressed up. when you don’t like somebody you pick at every silly thing imaginable, just to say somehing against them. hope his bank account doubles, katie gets to wear more designer clothes ,suri goes everywhere with her mum and dad , bella and connor do their own thing, and some of you lot here willstop your continual whinging about them.
