Thought I would throw this one in and see what happens!
“America is over Scientology’s most famous disciple.
PerezHilton.com has learned that the Oprah episode featuring Barbara Walters on Tuesday BEAT the Tom Cruise shows (part one aired last Friday, part two aired on Monday) in the ratings game.
The Babs episode scored a 5.0/13 rating and the two Tom episodes both scored a 4.1/11.”

Just for the record, I could care less about ratings. I am just throwing this one out for the fun of it to see what comments it can generate.
If you take the percentages, they are about the same. Barbara Walters 38% and Cruise 37%. Either way, both look dismal.
It is odd that one is out of 11 and the other 13.

I think thats good. So what is the exact number of viewers?
If I’m not mistaken its over 7m so that is very good number considering the man was finished according to the critics. lol Not to mention the internet coverage of the show and magazines.

NoS: thanks for your 2nd post about the percentage. I think like you said its not a big difference but when it comes to Tom Cruise the media/blogs make it a big deal.

NOS: The Babs episode is a 5.0/13 and the Tom episode is 4.1/11.
Why not compare them using either the 11 or a 13? Why the difference?

I think I figured it out……………A 4.1/11 rating equates to about 14.29 million viewers and a 5.0/13 rating equates to about 13.4 million viewers.
I could be wrong.
If anyone has information on how the ratings work and if this is correct please inform.

Tia:
Calculating using the 4.1/11 for Tom the viewers are about 14.5 million viewers.
Using the 5.0/13 for Babs the viewers are about 13.5 million viewers.

Thank you Mary.
They will use Tom’s name in just about anything to draw people to there site. Why not just say the total numbers?!
Anyway, that is actually more than what I expected. I didn’t know Oprah’s show gets that many audience. Go Tom!

don’t understand the calculations. Why would the 4?? be higher is number of viewers than the 5?

CM: It isn’t as simple as just looking at the 4.1 and the 5.0…………..One is out of 11 and the other 13. In actuality the numbers are very close, just over a million apart.
I’m sure in the coming days Nielsen will have the actual numbers and demographic information.

The difference between the two is insignificant. How many viewers does Oprah get on a regular day? I believe her “give away” show was a hit. I’m not a regular viewer - show’s boring.

I may not be an expert on the ratings but from those figures it would seen like Tom had the bigger numbers. Who cares, did you get this from Perez Hilton? Because he also thought that Suri was making a cameo on the Oprah Show.
I didn’t watch the Barbra walters show though I wanted to. Whatever the case am sure the Tom Cruise’s show gave Oprah a ratings boost and that is why people tuned in to watch Barbra Walters. Let’s not forget whose show got much more internet buzz and will defintely get more audience oversees.
Off to confirm how the ratings work.
