Keith Urban Talks About Not Seeing Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman’s Kids

I wonder if Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban care that they don’t see much of Connor and Isabella?

Country singer Keith Urban barely gets to spend time with his wife Nicole Kidman’s adopted children, because they live with their father Tom Cruise.

Isabella, 13, and Connor, 11, have spent the majority of the year with the Vanilla Sky actor since he divorced Kidman in 2001.

While the New Zealand-born singer admits he gets on well with the two kids, he hardly sees them because they are based in California with Cruise.

He says, "I don’t get to see the kids as much as probably a lot of stepdads would, but it is a good relationship."

Urban admits he can’t wait to become a father and would love to have children with his wife of nine months.

He says, "I am looking forward to fatherhood. I have always wanted to be a good dad.

"My brother’s got two kids and he’s an excellent dad and I think we both have that sense of being home and being solid family guys."

    I like Nicole Kidman but if she cared about her children more how come she doesn’t live in the same state where the children were brought up all their life’s? Its really selfish of her to move to another state to be with her new hubby away from her children.

    we don’t know what arrangement they have with their father but it seem to me Nicole is a workaholic, she does 3 or 4 movies a year, travels a lot outside of America and 4 months after they were married Keith was in rehab till recently so how does he expect to see the children more often. Once you have children they should be priority no matter what!!!

    And Keith barely spends time with Nicole Kidman anyway, let alone her children who live in a different state so if he really wants to see them then he should move to LA.

    We don’t know how often Nicole sees the kids, but she herself has said in an interview last year that she would like to see them more often, but was very busy with her filming, PR commitments and spending time with Keith. Now, as a Mother, I can tell you that NOTHING would keep me from my kids. And with her resources, there is no need to regret the lack of time with them. She can hop in her jet and fly to LA anytime she wants. So that part, I am disappointed in. She seems like someone who is very wrapped up in herself and all things Kidman. And unfortunately, it looks like her kids are not a priority to her. But at least their father seems like a very good parent.

    Also, don’t start with the whole “Tom keeps her away from them blah blah’ because that is false, in their divorce settlement they were given joint custody.

    Don’t forget that Mr. Cruise left Ms. Holmes and their daughter for an extended period of time immediately after the birth. I hate to see people point out the faults of one person and put the other one a false pedestal. Children should be a priority, but that hasn’t always been true with Mr. Cruise, either.

    Leaving your kid for few days to do some work and not seeing your kids over a number of months and leaving in a different state is different in my opinion.

    Not sure whom you are critisizing. Mr. Cruise was gone for for an extended period, more than a “few days” to promote his film (MI3) around the world.

    I was taking to you Mrs Gutman. Tom went to german for 1 day before Suri was born then he was away for 3 days in May to promote his movie in London, Paris and Rome and he went straight back to LA after 3 days!!! Then he went to Japan in August if I’m not mistaken for 1 day. So its indeed a few days and NOT “extended period”!!!

    I am unsure why you seem upset. I am simply pointing out that Mr. Cruise is not inseperable from his children. He is a more savey user of the press for photo opportunities than some. In addition, the public, not knowing these entertainers personally, can not descerne what the reasons are for a lack of contact between Ms. Kidman and her children, if in fact a lack of contact exists. It could be work, a custody struggle, a choice, or a fabrication. What we, the public does know, is that Mr. Cruise chose to leave a woman who just gave birth for a period of time (I will leave of the word extended as to not upset you) to promote a movie. This is not a critisizm of his parenting skills. Suri was most likely not damaged by his absence. Ms. Holmes may have been sorry to see him go but I am sure they made the decision for him to leave as a couple.

    I am simply pointing out that people make choices, for a variety of reasons, and we should not attack one person and not another. We should use the same set of rules to measure all those we chose to have in our lives. Be they truley in our lives or simply entertainers we hold as idols.

    I should probably refrain from commenting here. I have looked at other posts and it seems the frequent visitors here are a bit hot-headed and are prone to explosions of anger. Civilized conversation seems to be quickly becoming a thing of the past.

    By the way, Guttman is spelled with two ‘t’s.

    Guttman, I’m not upset but I was surprise and had to correct you, when you said “extended period” when it was just a few days here and there. My comment was based on the information Nicole Kidman herself gave in 2006, that she doesn’t get to spend time with her kids because of her work. Also I’m not saying Tom is with his family 24/7 but he is mostly with them and they travel with him with the exception of the first few weeks when Suri was born.

    Wow, I’m impressed by the research that was done here. I don’t have statistics but I absolutely agree with N that a mother should not leave her children. They are one’s top priority. We don’t know why she left them. Her husband is a very well-connected man in the Church of Science so she may have done it to save them from a struggle. Something about that big grin of his doesn’t ring true but maybe, as a woman, I’m just more sensitive to Nicole’s plight. They do have a new big sister in house to help out though, Katie.

    A father has just as much of a responsibility to raise his children and not leave as a mother.

    Let’s not forget..
    Mr. Cruise filed for divorce. Ms. Kidman stated that she was “shocked” when he did so and “begged” him to seek marriage counsiling. These are Ms. Kidman’s words. Mr. Cruise refused and chose to end the marriage. The reasons Ms. Kidman does not spend a lot of time with the kids are known only within their family. Perhaps she knew if Mr. Cruise left her he would be taking the children with him, and she would be reduced to a part time mom.

    N, you make comments about their custody arrangement as if you know it’s fact.
    A lot of us comment on things we’ve read in the tabloids etc…but this is one issue that has NEVER been commented on by TC or NK, other than the comment by NK that she doesn’t get to spend time with her kids because of her work. Is this also a quote from a “source” or is it an actual interview???

    Also, I can’t get it out of my head that TC dragged Katie, mere weeks after giving birth, to his premiere of MI3 and it was reported that they sat through the movie TWICE. That’s what, almost 5 hours???

    And why did he go to Rome April 24, 6 days after Suri was born?? It’s reported that he wasn’t even expected to be there.
    And didn’t he go all the way to Germany (?) a couple weeks before she was due JUST to do some tv appearance, just to make a big deal about having to get back in case she gave birth???

    Mrs Guttman, Tom was under contract to promote MI3 and he was present when Suri was born. He said that he was not going to go to Germany but that Katie urged him to go as it was for a few days. He has not had a movie till the beginning of this year and has not been separated from Suri for the first year of her life for even more than a week. He is always there for the children and comparing Nicole’s part -time mothering to Tom’s 3 day absence from Suri is incredulous and absurd. Keith saying that he has not been wit the kids a lot is not surprising since mostof the time he has been their step dad he has been in rehab. Nicole on the other hand has too much work on her hands that it seems she does not even have time for her her new marriage.

    I like Nicole and I am happy for her if she is pregnant but if she wanted to share th elives of her kids, she should make time for them and move closer. Blaming Tom all the time is unfair.

    I don’t recall ever hearing Ms. Kidman blame Mr. Cruise for time away from her kids. I stated that we, the public, do not know what the causes are for the separation. The fans on this site seem, with all due respect, a little far on one side, or the other. What happened to looking at all the facts and thinking a bit, before jumping to the offense or defense, as the case may be.

    Just a heads up Mrs. G, I’m the “loser” here, for the sole reason of having a different opinion.
    And to answer your question, logic, critical thinking, and reason DO NOT exist on this or any other fan site except maybe Just Jared, where the fans have a more polite way of hashing out their differences, kind of like what you’re trying to do here!!!
    It’s nice and I personally wish you wouldn’t go away.
    I’m fully expecting that there will soon be a comment that you and I are the same person, this is a common comment by rabid fans if two posters go against “the norm”

    I remember going on Justjared and commenting that Angelina looked like she was shrinking and they abused the sh*t out of me. We on this site are usually pushed to the extreme by some losers who come in the shape and foam of ‘different view’ to insult and malign Tom and Katie. Of Course we do not think Tom and Katie are Angels but even you Mrs Guttman are a masquarader if you can spread rumours you heard about some one without concrete proof. We will continue standing up for Tom and Katie as long as we think they are being treated unfairly.

    I was under the impression that Tom took the kids with him when he left because he wanted them raised $CIENO and Nicole was not going to become 100% $CIENO because she is Catholic. Also would not commit birth children to the $CIENOS either.

    He was a prick and left her when she was pregnant, causing third miscarriage. He is in love with $CIENOLOGY not Katie or Nicole. I like to think of him as a vacuum cleaner salesman now, going door to door for the $CIENO cause…he he he.

    Cali-lily or whatever you are, is the fact that Tom wanted to raise the kids as scientologist the reason why Nicole has a packed movie schedule? Is that the reason Keith was in rehab and their marriage has just taken off? Is that the reason she moved to Nashville (not that she stays there much) instead of staying some where near the kids as most divorced parents do?

    I really do not care her reasons for not seeing the kids or whether she is a good mother or not as long as Tom is not blamed for all her short comings in parenting.

    You do not sound much brighter that Libraesque so I think I will dump you in the loser category. Those dollar signs of scientology really out you as a duplicate poster!Don’t make me reveal who you really are.

    Where are all these losers coming from. They all sound the same and they’re obsessed with Scientology. I mean if they wanted to discuses about Tomkat shortcomings I’m sure there are things they can talk about other than Scientology. I’m very suspicions they might indeed be recruiting for the religion by using reverse psychology I think they just want people to read about Scientology and find out for them self.

By the time people believe stories of Jesus walking on water and that crazy creation story, believe me they can believe those thetan stories.     B-Man, I can assure you me and Anne are two different people. I think Anne has a lot of sense of humour which I don’t have when it comes to comments left by super loser here, so OUR comments can’t be any different if we try…you just have to read our pervious comments.

    I think it has to do with the fact that she is not these kids real mom and probably feels for them as “step-kids”. Maybe Tom was the one wanting to adopt children in the first place.

    i think keith should see the kids because he is part of the family keith has been to rehab to get some help i think that is good he wants to get better so he can have a fresh start i think theydont give him a chance i hope u and your wife enjoy your new baby.
