Katie Holmes Auditions for Movie Version of Nine
Remember how great Katie’s voice was on the episode of Dawson’s Creek where she entered the beauty contest? Well, now Ms. Holmes might get another chance to wow us with her voice as she auditioned for the movie version of the musical "Nine":
Katie Holmes, who recently completed filming for Mad Money, is striving to take her film career to the next level with a plum role in the movie version of the 1982 Broadway musical "Nine".
The 28-year-old-wife of Tom Cruise did a singing and dancing audition Tuesday in the office of Oscar winner Rob Marshall who will be directing the film, reports Pagesix.
Other stars being considered for a role in the 1982 Broadway musical include Demi Moore, who did an audition on the same day as Katie, Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones.
According to the Hollywood reporter, the film is being produced by the Weinstein Co., which acquired rights to the project from original "Nine" book writer Arthur Kopit and composer Maury Yeston, who will serve as co-executive producers.

That show is very risque.. Think Tom would let her do it?

Naw, she’s doesn’t have a bat as*es chance. What’s wrong with her? She thinks she can get all kind of plum roles, just because she hooked up with some crazy, rich, weirdo? All of those other actresses who auditioned have worked their tails off, to get where they are today. She’a just a unknown who suddenly became a well-known gold digger.

I have to agree with Carla on this. The other actresses she’s going against have much bigger and better portfolios. This is not to knock the girl, but she’s up against actresses who can act circles around her plus experience to boot!!

you never know…tom could always ‘buy’ her the role….just like he bought her…

Amy, you’ve got a point. She is under “Cruise Control” mode. I guess we’ll see if she gets it. Sad though, that she has to use the “Cruise” name these days to get where she THINKS she’s going to get. Don’t worry, that one is going to get a rude awakening one day.

It’s obvious that her lawyer daddy taught her well. He taught her that it’s not what you know, but who you know.

LOL. How pathetic are you individual to camp her day and night to hate on a slip of a girl? One wonders.
That said, am glad if she is getting such a meatier role. This way her career can go to the next level.

one wonders what exactly??
personally, i find it pathetic that individuals camp here day and night to worship and idolise a manufactured image of a b-grade actress and her has-been husband -
each to their own i suppose…
if she DOES get this role over someone such as catherine z jones or renee zellweger (both accomplished in musicals) it will only prove ‘how’ she got it as far as i am concerned…
and when exactly has katie been ‘hated on’ above? i find that a very harsh term to use on something that is merely being discussed and debated…
and as for her career going onto the ‘next level’ - well, for katie i guess the only way is up!

Hey Carla, we’re not pathetic, just stating facts. She auditioned against some actresses who have the little gold Oscar on their mantles. If people feel offended about facts, that’s their issue. Just telling it like it is.

Amy, I’ve news for you she is not going to get the role over someone like “catherine z jones or renee zellweger”…..there are about six female roles in this musical. I don’t know what part she is auditioning for but she is probably auditioning for a different character than Catherine and Renee. For someone who spend her time going around slandering this couple at least get your fact straight once in a while.
Harvey Weinsten who is making the movie said his dream cast is Gwenyth, Nicole, Catherine, Renee, Judi Dench and Ann Hathaway. Katie is probably auditioning for the same character as Ann Hathaway I would think.

lemon227, like I just said she is not auditioned against some actresses who have the little gold Oscar on their mantles……there is a part for everyone. I hope she gets a part in the movie and work with the likes of Renee and Catherine.

Leah aka Nina, what I find extremely pathetic is that you’re completely incapable of joining in a discussion with a differing opinion, very immature of you. Your immediate response is to post the tired old “you camp here day and night” Seriously how many times are you going to post that, as many times as the loser anne with her “ignoring losers” who has been banned from this sight?
That being said, if Harvey’s dream cast includes Nicole Kidman I would think the scandal surrounding casting the ex ms. c and the current would be a consideration, and if it came down to a choice they’d go with nicole

Amy…Mandi:) don’t forget this story was from the New York Post so usually anything they report turns out to be just gossip. For all we know Katie didn’t even audition for a part in this movie.

hey amy,
so I was watching Reba this weekend, and they were trying to come up with a baby name for some pregnant chick (never seen the show) and the guy says “something cooler than Suri, but not as weird as Apple”
!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s funny how SO MANY shows take jabs at TomKat, like Will and Grace, etc…

I hope she gets a part in this movie and I remember she used to sing a lot on Dawson Creek and she also sang in another movie don’t remember the title…with a little help with training her voice she will be fine.
Here is another clip of her singing.

this is from The Post April 7………….
April 16, 2007 — HARVEY Weinstein may have been taken to task by showbiz reporters over his missteps with “Grindhouse,” but few will likely fault him for his next project. Weinstein is said to be lining up an all-star cast for the movie production of the Tony-winning musical “Nine.” “I’m thinking Gwyneth Paltrow, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger,” Weinstein said of the six major female roles. As for how he’ll pay all the A-list actresses’ salaries, Weinstein said, “We’ll figure it out.” He added, “There are roles for six women in the movie who have to be beautiful and sing and dance . . . it’s a terrible assignment to cast this” - to which director Rob Marshall chimed in, “Thrilling!” For the male lead, Weinstein and Marshall are said to be considering George Clooney, Javier Bardem, Antonio Banderas and Johnny Depp.

When does the movie starts shooting because Nicole Kidman is in Australia filming for 8 to 10 months and from her Imdb she is going to be busy after that. I don’t think he will get all those actors from that list but I’ve read George Clooney is interested in doing musical. Oh well, I hope Katie gets a part.

she’d be out of her league. Every one of those actresses except Anne Hathaway has won an Oscar.
I think she made a serious mistake by making Mad Money. She should have held out for this to be her “I’m going back to work” movie

You know those actors are not confirmed for this movie…these are actors HARVEY will like to have in his movie. I’ll be surprised if 4 of them sign to do this movie.

Carla did you see Happy Endings? Maggie Gyllenhaal sang in that. She’s obviously not a pro, but she’s got IT. I don’t see Weinstein spending millions on this movie and casting someone like Katie. SHe seriously sounds like a teenager

Well not to stir up an argument, but I thought Catherine Zeta SUCKED in “Chicago”. JMHO..Besides there would be alot of “Chicago” comparisons IF Rene AND Zeta were both cast.

People who watched Cruise’s wife Katie Holmes sing during her audition for the upcoming film based on the “Nine” musical say the actress was very impressive last week. Ditto for her dancing. Among the other stars trying out for various roles are Demi Moore — who also needed to audition — and Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones — who did not, presumably because of their credentials from the Oscar-winning “Chicago.”

Dancer, apparently she didn’t suck too bad. Not needing to audition, pretty damn impressive.
And unless KH’s voice has completely changed and she now sounds like an adult instead of a teenager, and had voice lessons, I don’t think anyone would be impressed by her singing

Maybe it was because Catherine had just had a baby, but she looked fat at the time. Just because she didn’t have to audition doesn’t make her good for a particular role. Doesn’t mean she’s not talented just that she may not be the best for a role. As a dancer myself, it’s my opinion, Zeta-Jones was NOT the best choice for a FAMOUS Fosse role, she just could bring in the ticket buyers better than someone like Bebe Neuwirth who is PERFECT for ANY Fosse role.
It’s all box office anyways.

Jul 3, 2007 at 11:10 am
I wonder if Bebe was considered? She’s the BOMB!!!!
so you didn’t like CZJ because she was fat?
or because you thought she couldn’t dance
or was her dancing awkward because she was fat?
Dancer
Jul 3, 2007 at 12:14 pm
I just didn’t think she was right for the part. Fosse had a VERY unique style and she just didn’t get it. NOT to say she can’t dance it’s just Fosse is Fosse. And I guess I just thought her dancing was awkward because she was overweight at the time. I think she’s beautiful, but another actress probably would have been better. But like I said CZJ is box office.
