According to the Herald Sun, Tom Cruise left Melbourne on Tuesday with good friend James Packer for a few days at sea on one of Packer’s yachts. Obviously, this is just hearsay.

The yacht is called the Arctic P and sails across the Pacific for some recreational fun. Those of you who follow Tom Cruise news know that he and Packer have been very good friends for sometime. Packer introduced Tom to the Church of Scientology and Tom was at his side when his father passed away.

From the sound of it, they haven’t been able to spend much time together because of their busy work and family lives.

Reportedly, while Tom was away, Katie and Suri did some shopping at Target. Accompanied by two security guards they spent about $800 on clothes, toys and housewares to make their stay at the Crown feel more like home.

Holmes and Suri, accompanied by two security guards, browsed the store before buying among other things a children’s bike, a Dora the Explorer piano, a Barbie doll, some flannelette sheets for a child’s bed, several floor mats with heart and flower designs, some board games, several children’s DVDs and an AFL football.

I could easily spend $800 at Target. Love that store!! I hope that Melbourne will feel like home for the Cruises.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes took Suri out for a night at the theatre in Melbourne on July 5th. Attending the Australian stage production of ‘Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ at the Princess Theatre, Tom held Suri close while the camera flashes were going crazy. I’m sure she’s had plenty of experience in front of rabid paparazzi, but that still has to be a little bit scary for her.

A big change from Katie’s cool and casual look on the set of “Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark”, her creamy coat is just lovely (don’t forget - it’s winter in Australia!) and I imagine very cozy too.

According to the Herald Sun, who spoke to Tom after the show, Suri knew almost all of the words to the Frankie Valli songs in the show since his albums were constantly playing in their Los Angeles home. Who knows…Suri might be practicing to follow in her famous parents’ footsteps!

Finally! Some photos from Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’s low key birthday celebrations at the Collingwood and Essendon AFL Match.

Instead of the standard crazy Hollywood celebrity party, Tom and Katie hung out with good friend James Packer and Katie’s “Don’t Be Afraid of The Dark” co-star, Guy Pearce in a corporate box. During the game, Cruise was friendly and smiling to fans who I were surprised to see the famous couple out for the match on Tom’s birthday.

This was just a night for Tom and Katie; Suri stayed at home. As close as the Cruise family is, it’s always nice to see Tom and Katie get some alone time to hang out and be a couple too!

Another year has gone by and today is Tom Cruise’s 47th birthday! From me and Julie, we want to wish Tom a fantastic birthday with his family in Melbourne.

Still looking as dapper and handsome as ever, it’s so great to see him and Katie both with great movies starting production this Summer. Of course, then there is adorable little Suri who seems to get more beautiful by the day!

I hope the Cruise family got a chance to enjoy his birthday in Melbourne (with time zones being what they are, his birthday has come and gone over there!) and continue to have a great time while they are there.

Once the rumors started swirling about all the plans for Tom Cruise’s 47th birthday on July 3rd, it’s no surprise that Australian popstar Kate Ceberano’s name showed up in the news since she has already performed for the Cruises in 2005 (also for his birthday).

But Kate talked to the press today and laughed off these unsubstantiated claims about his party, though mentioned she is looking forward to getting to spend some time with Tom and Katie.

“There are going to be so many stories while they’re here. I’m not touching that one.”

Vague? Yes, very much so. But it seems unlikely that she will be giving a repeat performance for TomKat this year.

The question remains…what is planned for Tom’s birthday party?

This week Cameron Diaz was gushing to US Magazine about how excited she is to be working with Tom Cruise again on their upcoming film, Wichita.

“I’m very, very excited about doing it. It’s an action film, so I’m really excited to work him.”

Last month Variety reported that the script has been approved by both Tom and Cameron, and the film expected to be released in 2010. Tom stars as a secret agent while Cameron will be playing the leading lady who hasn’t had the best luck with men.

It will be great to see Tom and Cameron back on the big screen together. They had a lot of chemistry in Vanilla Sky, reckless as it may have been in that storyline!

The rumors about Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes moving to New York continue to fly, with new reports surfacing that this might be their new 8,113 sq ft home in the city’s elite West Village neighbourhood.

As Julie wrote earlier, property records show that the gorgeous six-floor house was purchased by a private firm in April. Former owner, Harold Nathan says “all lips are sealed” on this deal and reps for both Katie and Tom continue to deny they were the purchasers.

I imagine the neighborhood is buzzing with rumors today!

Several different sources are claiming that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are making a move to New York.  The Village Voice blog is saying that they first heard it from Nat Hentoff, who heard it from the doorman on his block of west 12th Street in the Village.

The home in question is a town house at 42 W. 12th Street, which has recently changed hands.

Documents show that in April the brownstone in question was bought for $15 million by an LLC, and the documents were signed by local real estate agent M. Nader Ahari as the LLC’s secretary. (Real estate agent James Nelson tells us forming an LLC to purchase a private residence is “unusual.”)

Both Katie’s rep and Tom’s lawyer have denied that the couple bought the home saying, “It is absolutely not true”.

When asked about the townhome, here’s what the doorman had to say:

“Can’t tell you who lives there. I would lose my job. But you know, we doormen know everything that goes on around here. I can tell you the owner won’t be there much because he’ll be filming in LA a lot, and I can tell you he bought the house for his wife, who was in a Broadway show. But I can’t tell you who it is. I could lose my job.”

Who knows who it is! There are a lot of husbands who have wives that are in Broadway shows. I guess only time will tell.

Katie should be headed off to Melbourne soon to begin filming “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”. Of course because of the pictures of Katie’s protruding belly at Cameron Diaz’s Hollywood Walk of Fame celebration, everyone is saying she is expecting. If she is, I would think this would delay filming, but “sources” have been saying for months and months that she is expecting. Again, only time will tell.

On Monday (June 22), Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes helped celebrate with Cameron Diaz, who got her star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame.

Katie was all in white, showing up in a pair of white ripped jeans, white shirt and a white cardigan.

As you probably know, Tom and Cameron have worked together before in the 2001 flick Vanilla Sky. Reportedly, they are set to work together again in “Wichita”. Sources say that they have both signed on for the film, approved the script and their negotiations are in the advanced stage.

Cruise will play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman. “Wichita” is slated to be released in summer 2010.
